Re: Toontrack Superior Drummer 3

jt - this video might be worth a glance, demoing SD3 with an electronic kit: https://youtu.be/XZ0jGa3GhZw It's certainly not a forensic walkthrough and doesn't touch on the mixer, but at least it's not static loops. EDIT - meant to say hello and thank you to Lorenz0 for the other Sweetwater link abo...

Re: Toontrack Superior Drummer 3

jt - I think the Superior Drummer paradigm has always been for the defaults to be less flashy than EZD, but with more depth and detail. In the past I've tended to say "screw that" - give me that flash. But what is so promising about SD3 is that the increased number of mics plus the greatly...

Re: Toontrack Superior Drummer 3

I'm with you Mario and J. Feeling pretty positive about this, but in part this is due to me hating SD2 so much. It's been one of my few regretful purchases, while the sounds are good I hated everything else pretty much, incredibly unfriendly to work with. EZD2 has been quite the joy, and they've tak...

Re: TC Electronics VSS-3 discount

It can sound like million dollars, but if it's shit to use, I'm not interested :/ Really?! For a reverb? There's nothing in the reverb parameters that bothers me about it being numerical input. Come to think of it, I nearly always use numerical input on the reverbs I do use. For me the UI is vastly...

Re: Cinesamples CineStrings update v1.3, plus new product - CineHarps

I haven't had buyers remorse on any of the current Cine range. Most products have flaws and theirs are no exception, but I can live fairly happy with them (though in some cases that's only because I kept earlier versions of their nkis). The lack of round robin is a blessing - keeps that library size...

Re: Cinesamples CineStrings update v1.3, plus new product - CineHarps

Yes, thanks for posting. Having resisted everything for a while, I may yet succumb to this one. Lovely sound, feels very practical and not over fussy while covering pretty much everything I can think of. It's 5.6.8 sadly, but sounds like that's inevitable now for new Player libraries.

X - I'm guessing these will be all new recordings. I've never liked the old CineHarp - I think it was about the first thing they ever did.

Re: The Unfinished / Summer Sale (up to 50% off)

Well that set me off - I went on a tidying frenzy. Now all my gazillions of Unfinished libraries are in three master libraries - Horizon (and other Omni 1 era libraries); Colossus (and other Omni 2 era libraries) and the Trilian ones. There's about 1,000 Omni 1 patches, 1,700 Omni 2 and a smattering...

Re: The Unfinished / Summer Sale (up to 50% off)

You should be fine there Jamie, I've just looked and there's 35 or so tagged BPM percussion synthetic, and about half fall into the mid to hf category I'd say. It was a good memory jog for me, I always default elsewhere for that kind of thing, but there's lots of good useable stuff there. Plus, ya k...

Re: The Unfinished / Summer Sale (up to 50% off)

I'd say the differences are fairly subtle, J. All great stuff of course. I actually combined all the Horizons into one, and I think I'll do the same for Colossus I and II actually. Since the Omni browser only allows one library at a time or all of them, it makes sense to combine stuff that's similar...

Re: Vengeance Producer Suite - Avenger synth

Do you know if you can layer the granular stuff over the normal oscillator type sounds? Yes, at the top of the osc section are the layers, you can have tons of them, and each one has its own oscillator which can be granular or anything else. I never really gave Serum its due - I think I perceived i...

Re: Vengeance Producer Suite - Avenger synth

It's really well designed I think, Erik. Essentially, the big draw for me is having that big UI with everything right there, and then just drag and dropping for the mod routings. It seems a very intelligent use of a computer UI for a synth. There's been a few more videos since on their youtube chann...

Re: Spitfire PAIRS promotion / 2 for the price of 1

I suppose those criticisms with eDNA are really to do with the limitations imposed by Kontakt? Hard to implement an Omnisphere-esque patch browser in Kontakt. Yes, I think that's the fundamental problem. There's a lot released for Kontakt that just shouldn't be, imo. I liked that Phobos was its own...

Re: Spitfire PAIRS promotion / 2 for the price of 1

I find its easier and easier for me to pass up offers these days Jason, I'm feeling thoroughly bloated with kit. But that said I might have been tempted if some of the pairs were different. There was only ever one I really wanted. I suspect though that as the months and years roll by Spitfire will h...

Re: Cinesamples CineStrings update v1.3, plus new product

Legato speed? It seems that a lot of developers interchange the word legato for glissando. Yeah, that's just the thing in this case. The legato was very subtle, just a nice pretty seamless joining up (you have to add tail, but that's no biggie). There wasn't any glissando... so why the speed contro...

Cinesamples CineStrings update v1.3, plus new product - CineHarps

https://www.instagram.com/p/BXOHr4kAl90/ Curious - I always liked the CineStrings legato very much. Given their history of mucking up perfectly good legato, I'll be waiting for solid word on this (though I'd expect it would be ok to copy existing instruments somewhere else and put them in a subfolde...

Re: Will this technology provide the ultimate headphones?

A little late to this party - yes, looks like modern hearing aids basically. However, I'm not convinced that this is necessarily a pancea for everyone, because our brains adjust to the information they get coming in. Unless we use aids, the world sounds to us all one way - speech, environmental soun...

I'm not sure it makes for compelling viewing, but all the very best to the fella. I used to share train journeys to London with him when he was in shorts. I used to tell him he'd achieve his dreams / goals because he was so bloody minded and determined. He was, is, and did.
