Re: VSL Synchron Strings I

I think this new library from VSL has some very good things going for it. Though, I want to hear more demos for reasons I will explain later. PROS 1. I do not hear any unusual room build up and that bulky sound you often get with many libraries. 2. The strings sound very much in their place, natural...

Thanks for sharing man. Loved it! Loved their previous video too (Timpani)

This was really great. Don't own anything from them yet but may be soon.

Re: Coming November: VSL Synchron Strings I

Not impressed by the short demo! Sounds much like their old sample strings with similar fake-ish sound.

I hope, there is something much better coming in the demos or that this was just not done well to hush up the marketing video.

Re: Something "new" from Spitfire on the 21th of September

I wrote a half decent reply and then my cell lost connection to this site... talk about first world problems :-O Lawrence, is this correct. I do not mean to be bantering (is that the right word) so please don't take this the wrong way. But, what you are saying is that companies that sell samples ar...

Re: Something "new" from Spitfire on the 21th of September

This is a strange announcement. I do understand that they are updating and consolidating their products but it looks like a half measure. I have HZ-01 so people like me are totally left in the dark. It won't be updated and if I want to upgrade, I am forced to pay $106 and get the pro version (grante...

Re: FLUX:: / SPAT Revolution (released)

Amazing! Looks like a VE Pro style reverb station where you can do everything you need to. Though, I suspect this upgrade is worth it most for people who are working in surround. The upgrade V3 users like us is not cheap either! Routing looks very modular and easy to use. That is a nice upgrade. I w...

Re: NI Komplete 11 announced [June 17 - half price upgrade sale]

I just picked this up. It's great value for me because I upgraded from Komplete 8 standard to ultimate 11 for 299.

The additional drums, battery 4, una corda and a couple of synths alone are worth the money!

Heaviocity and the Trailer riser/percussion stuff might be good too. Look forward to it!

Re: Cubase 9

Teething issues I guess. I am glad it has been reported and will be taken care of. I just made use of the sampler track in a song I am producing. It is quite a nice feature as it could potentially speed up a few things. I have always been confused about the pitch and time stretch algorithms and thei...

Need a little help guys... I have just installed Cubase and I am finding the lower zone a bit irritating at the moment. How can I set it up so that editors always open in full screen without the lower zone ever coming up? I want to set it up to the old format by default. I cannot seem to find any se...

Re: Play 5.0.1 out

I have been using the latest update for the past 2 days and I have not had any major problems. But, there are off cut-off of ends at times. I don't recall having this issue earlier and I am using a PCI-e SSD so there is no reason for this to happen. Otherwise, there are no crashes or any bugs as suc...

Re: VSL release Solo Violin 2 and Solo Cello 2

I really hope that VSL is working on the next generation of sampled instruments. I think they might have made enough money over the years to warrant a long R&D into sampled instruments. That being said, I think it is not very likely because as we have seen, VSL has been slowly expanding business...

Re: Computer Generated Music

Agreed, 100%! However, AI is a reality which we will face as will other areas of life. It is already happening. Of course, at first there will be the important and most lucrative areas but eventually, it will be everywhere. In about 15-20 years, computers will be powerful enough to do enough calcula...

Like I said, I am not thinking of a doomsday scenario. But, I do feel AI is eventually going to enter music software in a big way. We are also in a world where a lot of stuff is done with technology, not because we need it but for economical reasons or well, just because it can be done. Yes, samples...

Re: Here we go Spectrasonics.

For a developer, it must certainly be a different feeling to see great musicians perform on instruments he designed. That's a great point, especially when you consider that this is one of the only times where that's even possible. You're not going to have a band for a Stylus RMX release with one gu...

Re: Here we go Spectrasonics.

I don't think it is off-putting at all. I think we may be reading too much into it. Think about it. As Jay said, Eric is already friends with all these great musicians and he is a passionate developer. Also happens to be one of the best and financially successful. Let us all step aside as customers ...

Re: Here we go Spectrasonics.

I agree that it sounds very good in general, but listen closely to the piano demos. I hear something wrong with the release. It's very very subtle, but it sounds like it cuts off unnaturally, almost like voice stealing. Larry, I think I know which part you are talking about. Was it not in the Cory ...

Re: Here we go Spectrasonics.

Guy , it is perhaps easier to get to a good end-result in a piano sample library. I can understand that. The sampling and playback is pretty much the same. We are recording samples from a keyboard and playing it back on a keyboard. You are not going to be able to do anything on the keyboard that a ...

Re: Here we go Spectrasonics.

Of course, there is no comparison with a real piano. Playing a real piano can never be surpassed by virtual instruments. It is after all, a matter of physics. However, what we need as musicians, producers and programmers is a virtual instrument that can be made to sound like a well recorded piano. T...

Pretty much agree with everything you have said there Piet . The electric pianos in particular among other keyboard instruments sound at first glance, superior to anything I own. I would have loved to see more pianos since it is supposed to be a collection of instruments, but OK! Yamaha C7 ...fair choice I guess. But, it does have many options and perspectives. I like this library. I think it is great that someone has created a dedicated collection of keyboard sounds. I am n...
