Re: Fiedler Audio / Stage (placement and stereo-toolkit plugin)

Thanks Tack, I had forgotten about EAReverb2. I tried an earlier version, and at the time I much preferred VSS. I've just downloaded the current EAReverb demo and I will spend some time with it. $100 for the upgrade to VSS2, $150 for EAReverb2, and frankly at that point they are roughly the same fin...

Re: Fiedler Audio / Stage (placement and stereo-toolkit plugin)

The IRCAM tools are remarkable. They are also way out of my price range. I have Virtual SoundStage version 1, and I do use it for placement, sometimes. Version 2 is much easier to use, but I haven't made the upgrade yet. i don't expect it to sound as good, or work as well, as SPLAT, but I don't find...

Re: Toontrack Superior Drummer 3

There are a couple of workflow things that look attractive, and GM is one of my heroes, but I just don't see enough - that would be useful to me - to make the investment worthwhile. No complaint about the price mind you - that's a pretty good deal for that many drum sounds, but I'm really happy with...

Re: TC Electronics VSS-3 discount

I'm on the fence, TC reverbs were among my favorites back when hardware roamed the earth. But I feel like I have more than I can reasonably use already, so I will grudgingly pass on the offer, pretending to be an adult about money or something<G>!

Re: Oberheim8000 / UVI Falcon Soundbank

every once in a while a sound set comes along that justifies - or nearly justifies the purchase of an engine. This, I think, has made it necessary to investigate Falcon further, and probably I need to invest in Falcon as well. At present I'm trying to tidy up some of my older systems and gear, clean...

Re: Dorico

OT squared - anyone remember Passport Memphis? Designed solely to create lead sheets quickly and painlessly. It was really pretty cool, and it was simple enough that I was able to keep it working through Windows 7. Alas it no longer works. So I use ChordProManager , which is fine if you don't need a...

Re: Soniccouture Summer Sale up to 60% off

I have several of their libraries, and they get used quite frequently. They are interesting and really well done. I'm going to grab Xtended Piano this time around! I don't remember them having sales, not sure I've had a chance to take advantage of a sale there, but I am today!

Re: Lexicon Summer Sale / 50% off

I own both PCM and LXP hardware. Which is probably why I've never been interested in the plugin versions? The LXP1 and LXP5 are not in the same league as the PCM-90. But they are well ahead of almost every other hardware reverb or effects unit I owned. Control was a bit dodgy until I purchased an MR...

Re: Softube Gets Into the Tape Game

I'm not entirely convinced that emulating tape, even just the features of tape we like (cause I don't want wow and flutter!) is not trivial, so it will be interesting to see what "light on the CPU" means. And as with nearly every other purchase these days, I do find myself saying "hey...

Still on Komplete 9, I'll look, but the last time I looked I didn't see enough stuff I'd use to make it worthwhile. Maybe this time I'll look at Ultimate?

see what you did? Now I have to go out and find a pirated copy of something just because, well, because.... Ah! Back to pianos... Re: Cinematique Instruments / Grand Harp

I have nothing on the radar that would use a harp, but there have been some simply gorgeous harps pop up over the last few months - SoundIron, Chocolate Audio, and now this? From the walk through videos I had been leaning towards Chocolate Audio Glissando, and maybe I should have just bought it, cau...

Re: LiquidSonics’ Seventh Heaven Professional - Bricasti M7 reverbs

The world has gone upside down I tell ya! I had the same reaction with respect to the IRs themselves, and the rather lopsided pricing. None of which will stop me from giving it a spin, the Bricasti impulse responses in Reverberate are good! However, it's going to have to be darned near the Bricasti ...

I am using Swing, going to add Swing More as soon as I get a couple things resolved, and I do fill in with CHHCompact and Straight Ahead Horns... so I'm on a somewhat parallel path. Which means I've read that last part of your post a couple of times now... I suppose if I earned more from these sorts...

Re: Unintentionally hilarious promo vid for (yet another) trailer library

Honestly Jay, it's partly the tone. "Most of us are musicians and actually care about it as music" With respect, and not like Jay needs a defense, but I didn't read that to be in the least bit snide, but rather, I read it as a POSSIBLE explanation about why trailer music gets a poor respo...

Re: Unintentionally hilarious promo vid for (yet another) trailer library

The promo video and Don's reviews were both sufficiently painful that I didn't make it very far through either one. I have Audio Imperia Trailer Guitars, and I really like it. I use it more for ideas than actual recordings, but it is still worth its weight in guitar strings (that's meant as a compli...
