Re: Waves Online Mastering
personally I prefer human ears, but I will concede that there are mastering tasks that a computer can do better than a human, even without AI, and level matching is certainly one of them. I may toss a project their way, I'm willing to gamble $6 to see what they can do, but my expectations are ridicu...

Of course it is Paul at the controls, but that fast legato sounds really nice!

Re: Cinestrings Pro: first listen
from what I can tell, Musio remains a work in progress, and progress they are making! I think it was a courageous step (leap?) to release a limited version. I heard someone complain about paying for the privilege of beta testing, I don't think that is a fair assessment, but everyone is entitled to t...

I do like the sound, do we know if it is coming to both Musio and Kontakt?

My experience mirrors Jason's description - I do not think this bodes well for Avid or their customers. I'd dearly love to be proven wrong!!!

Re: Spitfire Audio / Trevor Horn's "Jupiter"
I hope that eventually someone will showcase the Trevor Horn source material. If I think I can make good use of it, I may buy the library anyway. I've enjoyed a lot of Trevor Horn's work over the years, so I'm still very interested in hearing his contribution to this product. I find Homay's demos t...

Re: Spitfire Audio / Trevor Horn's "Jupiter"
I am a fan of Mr. Horn, and there are a handful of cool sounding patches in the demos, but not enough to get me to pull the trigger.
I did that once - Steven Wilson's Ghostwriter from EastWest - it's a cool library, but not nearly as useful as I had hoped. So I am wary these days...

Re: Avid to be Acquired for $1.4 Billion
Mr. Wallace's statement rankled more than a few I imagine.
It is true that he is accountable to the stock holders, but honestly, when that becomes the priority I think the game is over anyway.
I can't believe no one coached him about what to say, or worse, his speech writer is tone deaf.

Re: Fluffy Audio / Summer Sale (up to 60% discount storewide)
I don't think he has released a bad library! I have Spaghetti Western, some may remember I really waffled, and I still have not used it "in real life", but it is fun, and inspiring, and it sounds great! I love the idea behind Time Drops, and it is high on my list - just as soon as I come u...

Re: Kontakt 7.5 update
I do need to think this through - there are about 17 plugins I still use, and it wouldn't be worth keeping WUP up to date for the bundle, except it would cost me more to replace the plugins (even at $29 a piece) and WUP would still be nusance. Then again, I really don't feel like going on yet anothe...

Re: Kontakt 7.5 update
I'm still going to wait to upgrade because it will either cost me the price of the Waves Update Plan, or I'll have to leave most of my Waves plugins behind. Hi Geoff, I went through that dilemma not too long ago, and I discovered Waves is pretty darned smart - in an evil sort of way. Or at least an...

Re: Cinesamples Industry Brass and Musio subscription platform inc "Lifetime license"
at least for now, Kontakt offers a little more flexibility for those that like to peek under the hood?
I think it will be interesting to see, for now I have all the Cinesamples libraries that interest me, well, except for Solo Strings, which I am thinking about.

Re: Spectralayers 10 Pro
call it old age, or stuck in the past... I think I've tried every version of Spectral Layers since the beginning (can you say Sony/Sound Forge). It is clever tech, and in the right hands it is probably very useful. I've just never gotten the hang of it. I'm kinda stuck in the good old 2D, amplitude ...

Re: Exit Soundwide, enter.. Native Instruments
On the one hand there will be incredible deals to get folks in the game at a high level. But long term, I wonder if newer, leaner and smarter companies will usurp this goliath. That is the hope, isn't it? It requires patience, but it will happen. Look at what happened to JBL, Crown, AKG, and Lexico...

Re: Exit Soundwide, enter.. Native Instruments
I do not find the prospect of all these brands consolidating to be reassuring in any way. A single login is fine, but not worth the potential loss of some really fine products. I understand the allure of economies of scale that none of these companies could have imagined on their own, but at what co...

Re: Cakewalk Sonar returns
For me the greatest feature, and the reason I still use it, albeit only part time, is familiarity, I've been using Sonar for going on 22 years now (is that even possible?) Even when they add a new feature (e.g. their version of articulation maps) it is simple and quick to get my head around it. That...

Re: Cakewalk Sonar returns
I started my Windows adventures with Cakewalk Pro Audio 10, courtesy of my employer at the time. I was quickly drafted as a beta tester for CWPA11, which was renamed Sonar before it went to market. I really enjoyed being part of the beta team, and Cakewalk took it very seriously. I stayed on Sonar u...

Re: Native Instruments Summer Of Sound '23
based on history, at least as I remember it, NI seems to follow the Apple philosophy of "ship it!" They routinely release half finished features (or software for that matter), and then fix them based on user feedback. I think it is possible that they had no idea what people wanted in a bro...

Re: Native Instruments Summer Of Sound '23
I made the leap from 12 to 14 standard this past holiday season, prior to that I think I was on 7. The only things I'd like from Ultimate that I don't already have I purchased a la carte. And that wasn't much. It's the same with PSP, UAD, and Plugin-Alliance - I have everything I want (and a few I c...

Re: Yet another Keyscape update
I'm so enjoying going through the old multitracks of classic songs, and its so obvious that musicians simply loaded patches on their keyboards and played them. We've oddly fetishised patch design and have an obsession for the pure re-creation of every last nuance... it feels kinda ass-backwards to ...
