Re: Spitfire BBC Symphony Orchestra

That said, the sound in the live video presentation is atrocious. I've droned on here before about terrible sound in developer promos - popping VO mics, room ambience, awful voice / music balance and noise in the background etc. Also the video wasn't deinterlaced so it looks very amateurish on Yout...

If anyone has it I'd be interested in opinions. It's doing some interesting things, but ultimately I wasn't won over from the walkthrough.

Re: Audiobro Modern Scoring Brass

Thanks for putting that together, Guy. Do let me know when CD 1 of Guy Noodling in Cmin is released. Those horns sound really good, don't they. The one thing I've yet to see a sample library do well is pp, or maybe even ppp (is that technically possible?) , where horns take on an almost winds-like q...

Hah, indeed, I still see the Roland type in there. At least it's a cool patch. :)

How is the batch convertor coming along, Guy?

Re: Audiobro Modern Scoring Brass

Individual players to build your own sections is very much the way brass and woodwind libraries should be recorded in my opinion. I don't need a2 and a4 patches when I can build them myself with individual players. I've always found the sound of stacking separate soloists to create an ensemble unde...

Re: Audiobro Modern Scoring Brass

The website now has a video and a couple demos.

https://audiobro.com/modern-scoring-brass/

And a firmed up release date of Tuesday April with an intro price of $599 USD.

Sounds like a real power house of a library.

Re: Polyverse Comet Reverb

Sounds interesting enough to demo. But there's just something about that Comet video that regrettably reminds me of this.

Edit: actually, there doesn't seem to be a demo.

For $79 I may take the plunge. I've been wanting to get Adaptiverb but find its price problematic.

Sounds pretty good. And it's scripted by Galaxy so you know it's going to play well. Interested in this one.

That said, The Grandeur didn't win me over. It lacks that je ne sais quoi of the Vintage D.

Re: Revised Evos from Spitfire

Good lord. That GUI is the size of a house. Wow, it sure is. I'm afraid I'm not a fan of Spitfire's new design language. I'm much more in tune with what I saw of OT's new UI. I don't mind the renaming so much. Angular String Evolutions brings us closer to more memorable naming -- it's closer to Sab...

Re: Midi 2.0

My other wish list is at the least 16bit resolution for velocity, panpot, CC# and all things like that. In the video he said higher resolution but didn't say for what. Certainly at least CCs. He didn't say how much, but I imagine it's at least 14 bits. Also more channels, more CCs, and per-note CCs.

Re: Midi 2.0

Thanks for the video, Vik. Looks like they're dragging MIDI into the 21st century. The MIDI-CI (Capability Inquiry) extension will use JSON as the data format. It's a trendier and developer-friendly format that's kind of the antithesis of the tightly packed wire-optimized protocol of MIDI 1.0. But i...

Some interesting looking interfaces there. And look how much everyone is smiling in that video -- they must sound great! I wonder it supports internal loopback like on the RMEs (and, I assume, others). $800 for the 8Pre is steep compared to the Behringer ADA8200 but if the audio quality is there I c...

pretty sure he means exactly what I'm saying he means - which is to come up with your own mic mix, then the sampler can mix that down to a single stereo microphone(like the dennis mixes in cinesamples/the jake Jackson mixes in SF) Yeah, I didn't see that video yet, but you're right, that seems pret...

that said, it has a lot of the features I wanted, ESPECIALLY the mic merge, considering I currently use all the mics and just freeze tracks. Do you freeze because of the RAM usage with all the mic positions? I didn't get the impression the mic merge feature was any more than a realtime summing of d...

I don't like fragmentation either -- especially when significant features are missing from some of those fragments and even if you were willing to implement different solutions for each you may not even have the option -- but I also don't like de facto monopolies with stifled innovation, which is a ...

Re: Modartt / Pianoteq Bechstein DG

That is an excellent track, Piet. This piano sits nicely in that mix, but having tried it this weekend, I find the mid-range has that lifelessness that Pianoteq does tend to struggle with. I think the dark, mellow tone of the Bluethner masks this, but it has a way of standing out on the brighter pia...
