Re: 50% off Symphobia libraries
Posted a similar Q at VIC, but will ask here as well, because this place is loaded with heavy-hitters and I'm just a humble home studio twiddler: I have actually amassed the entire Albion bundle (though it took a while), including both 1 and ONE, and wonder if Symphobia 1 would be essentially redund...

Re: Pianoteq 6.1 released
This exact Pianoteq conversation comes up recurringly VI web forums, and (drum roll please! LOL) the correct answer is: v6 is vastly improved from earlier versions (haven't loaded 6.1.1 yet, but will today) and the dead, plasticky sound that plagued earlier versions has been greatly mitigated, almos...

Re: For the next 4 days only: PSP Xenon for $29 instead of $249
That's quite a discount. My "go to" was FabFilter Pro-L for some time, and now the Pro-L 2. Does anyone have experience with both the PSP and the FabFilter? I'd be interested to hear your preference, and why. I too would be very interested in a comparison with the Pro-L2 if anyone has bot...

Re: For the next 4 days only: PSP Xenon for $29 instead of $249
Hi Quasar, It is a downloadable license that is placed into your account... Thanks much for the detailed explanation. Paradoxically, LOL, despite the Heisenberg avatar your post established the certainty of both my position and momentum on the subject of purchasing this, and I went ahead and bought...

Re: For the next 4 days only: PSP Xenon for $29 instead of $249
Thanks. It's still confusing though because if you go to the PSP site, some products clearly state that iLok is required, and others do not. But if you go to their FAQ the ONLY activation instructions are for the iLok-related products. It appears as though they're in the process of phasing in iLok/P...

Re: For the next 4 days only: PSP Xenon for $29 instead of $249
Can anyone state exactly how the copy protection works on this? I know PSP has been migrating to iLok/PACE, but this appears to not yet be affected. I don't have a PACE driver installed, nor have I or will I ever register an iLok account, so anything along those lines would be a deal killer whether ...

Re: The Unfinished: Omnisphere 2 Colossus III released
Installed the deluxe version and had a first skip through. Yes it is more of the same (as the name indeed suggests), but this is pretty much a bottomless pit. The patches that lit me up the most this time (not been through every one of course) would be the Strings and Pads in the Organic category -...

Re: Spitfire Albion ONE 10th anniversary update
Never got ONE, never thought I would. But the $99 upgrade from 1 shocked me and I purchased it immediately, on auto-pilot like the Star Trek Borg or something... I still really like the pastoral vibe of Legacy, but am amazed at how different and non-redundant ONE is compared to 1. The close mic posi...

Light and Sound have a 50% discount on their Chamber Strings currently: http://lightandsoundsamples.com/products/chamberstrings.html At 149$ they are priced very fairly. I do rather like their sound too. If Spitfire Chamber Strings are too expensive for you this might be an option. This one's killi...

jokes on you guys, I'm unemployed. I'm down to spare change and guitar picks - so I don't need to worry about resisting deals. I just came here to look at things I won't be able to take advantage of, in some sort of weird mental self whipping - undoubtedly cheaper than guy's link. I know the broke ...

Audiority is having a 25% off sale for all of their products, except bundles and this new hardware emulation delay/echo thing called Echoes T7E.
I was really taken with the demo of this, and it's only $29 US on intro, so I bought it:

Thanks Quasar, added - just to add that I tried Expose last week, and I thought it was truly awful. Red flagged literally everything I threw at it, inc stellar commercial mixes. You've be better off spending $12 on a whip and beating yourself with it non-stop for a month imo. But hey, it's a free t...

Re: Modartt releases Pianoteq 6
I just got Stage yesterday, and really like it. I tried a Pianoteq demo a long time ago and thought the sounds were "plastic-like" or something, even though the playability was great. But either my ears have changed or the modelling has gotten much, much better. I wouldn't say the sonic qu...

Re: Goodbye, Walter. And thank you for all the music
Fine musician and songwriter. I admit Steely Dan was one of those bands who weren't quite my cup of tea, even though I always thought they were really good at what they did. (I do like Do it Again. Great song.)

Re: Embertone Joshua Bell violin
Embertone is on of my favorite developers, and I already have their solo strings bundle, but this sounds very good indeed. The transitions between artics appear to be smooth, which isn't always the case with deeply sampled libraries... Look forward to hearing this in the wild after release, in diffe...

Re: John's Guitar // Nylon Guitar release
Bought. Just installed and loaded. Very honest "earthy" and soulful nylon tone. First impression is I like it better with the internal verb set to off, and I reined in the release a little bit... The sound design patch is a bonus. Fine job, cool little library. Thanks!

Re: John's Guitar // Nylon Guitar release
Lovely sound. Since your site says full Kontakt 5.6+, I can assume that 5.6.6 is OK? Don't want to go to 5.6.8 right now.

Re: Fiedler Audio / Stage (placement and stereo-toolkit plugin)
Since we're on the topic, I have to again plug EAReverb2 as a lower cost alternative to SPAT. Same here. I think it's great, but I've never had anything like SPAT to compare it with. I also have Virtual Soundstage 2, the Lite version with which I've really only used the "open field" for s...

Re: Spitfire PAIRS promotion / 2 for the price of 1
SCS/LCO would have been my1st choice, really, but impossible to pay at the moment. I'm sure Pairs will come back,at least if this sale is a success for SA, as I think they mostly test waters with different formulas. They seem to go the 8Dio/Cinesamples road...And I won't complain! No reason to rush...

Re: FabFilter 25% off Bundle Sale till July 30th
FabFilter’s appeal is in the unique marriage of excellent algorithms (not a rarity these days, true) with extremely functional and appealing interfaces. Sometimes the best effects are stuck in terrible interfaces that are skeumorphic for the sake of it and as a result do a terrible job of communica...

Re: FabFilter 25% off Bundle Sale till July 30th
I always read glowing things about FabFilter, and I'm sure they're great. But I would rather spend any money I have on better sample libraries and VSTis. I could well be wrong, but I tend to think the "snake oil" aspect of effects plugins is fairly high, and that one can shop wisely and fr...
