Re: Yet another Keyscape update

you're doing better than I - I spent some time with the update yesterday, had a blast, found myself grinning and noodling, and didn't make note of a single patch I enjoyed! There were a few!!

Re: Cherry Audio / Novachord + SoloVox

The video is really well done, and I think very interesting. I learned a little keyboard history!!

Neither of these is on my "must buy" list, I just don't have any ideas that would benefit. If the opportunity arose I'd grab them, even at full price (which to me seems ridiculously fair.)

Re: Softube / Model 80 (Prophet 5 emulation)

sorta - I know the new one is a P5, I guess the thing I was trying to say is that the Softube emulations are all quite good, but the selling point for me was the ability to load them into Modular. For the 72 it was a no-brainer, I wasn't sure how well the 84 modules but thought it worth a try. They ...

Re: Orange Tree / Evolution "Chapman" Stick

Mr. Levin does a fine job regardless of the instrument in his hands. And it has more to do with those hands (and that mind) than the instrument itself. The Trillian Stick is fun, but, at least with the factory patches, it is not all that expressive. Now I gotta go find me a couple of Tony Levin play...

Re: Softube / Model 80 (Prophet 5 emulation)

the only thing that piqued my curiousity to the point of purchasing Model 72 was the ability to incorporate it into their Modular. And that was so much fun I also bought their Model 84. You'd think I'd go for the Model 80. I think that I am well covered in Moog goodness by the GForce Software Minimo...

Re: Orange Tree / Evolution "Chapman" Stick

a couple related (??) notes: If you've been to a NAMM convention in LA in the last 30 years you've seen stick players, usually by the dozen. In 2000 you literally could not swing the proverbial cat without hitting one. And they were all pretty darned good. There was a magazine (sorta) in the late 19...

Re: Orange Tree / Evolution "Chapman" Stick

I could not be more excited about a library!! I have an Ironwood 10 string Stick, bought in in the late 80s, and I still stink, but it sounds so cool!

Can't wait to get my hands on it!!

Re: Softube / Model 80 (Prophet 5 emulation)

I like Repro-5 a lot, and I still miss Pro-53. The rest sound interesting, but not like the Prophet 5 I used. Doesn't mean a thing really. I did download the trial version, I'd love it if they really got it spot on. Their other synths are cool, I like their mini and their Juno plugins, so this one c...

Re: Zynaptiq Orange Vocoder IV released

I too used the original (Prosoniq) at a friend's studio (it was Mac only at the time). It was (at that time) heads and shoulders above any other software vocoder. Knowing what Zynaptiq is capable of I have already downloaded the trial version, can't wait to get started. "Easy Button Vocoder&quo...

Re: Toontrack / Stockholm SDX

The demos are excellent, but then I've yet to purchase an SDX I didn't love. Some are more specialized than others, and they are expensive, but I imagine they are not cheap to create? I think I am in good shape with respect to SDX libraries, lately I find I am turning to Decades as my first try freq...

Re: Cinesamples Industry Brass and Musio subscription platform inc "Lifetime license"

Obviously I have no idea what goes on behind closed doors<G>. My impression of Mike Patti is that he is sincere, and always looking for that next cool thing, at least in terms of the business. I think the $499 deal was made to attract attention to Musio, which a lot of us (myself included) didn't th...

I would have to agree - the trailer sounds beautiful, but not what I think of when I think of a chamber ensemble. I hope that reverb in the trailer is not baked in!

Re: Waves go subscription only (and back again)

It is clear that at least someone at Waves has some common sense... notice it was not the CEO that announced the turn-around, that is odd! We can never know for certain, but I agree with Guy, it was an enormous error in judgement, and they are not likely to repeat it as long as the folks that revers...

Re: Waves go subscription only

I'm with Jaap... in fact I started the process late last winter, I've been trying to slim down the DAW, plugin processors were the last category. I am on V14 across the board, so I have some breathing room. And there are only handful or two of plugins that I use regularly: The sad things is that I'v...

Re: Sonniss GDC SFX Bundle - 40GB Free

I haven't had time to dig in yet, but I recall the pain and suffering from previous years. You'd think that would be enough to prevent future downloads. You'd be wrong. I am starting to become more competent with Basehead, so I may just let it search the entire 40GB to see what will happen! I'll rep...

Re: Sonniss GDC SFX Bundle - 40GB Free

I think it is a little worse this year because the torrent is not working. In years past I've just started the torrent and gone about my business.

I did (finally) manage to download all 14 parts, and there are some real goodies in there!

Re: Spitfire / British Drama Toolkit: Brass and Reeds

I have the existing drama toolkits, and I LOVE the sounds. This new installment sounds just as glorious, and I may well pick it up, not sure yet if I will wait for a big sale. The workflow is fascinating, and I think pretty clever, except I have a difficult time controlling the libraries, my hands j...

I believe while they were recorded in the same building but it was in two different rooms. That said I like the depth the knobs add to the library, not sure I have anything that can do that. Re: Spitfire Albion Colossus

Here in the US my loyalty discou design nt and intro pricing bring it down to $289. On the one hand that is a pretty decent discount. On the next hand I think the design is pretty clever, two different sizes of the same orchestra could be really cool, and really useful. On the third hand, Homay's wa...

Re: Another new noise reduction miracle

I misunderstood this tool and tried it on a musical segment, me playing piano at an airport. The results were hilarious as the program tried to turn my (polyphonic) playing into speech! I think segments of it will make for great humor sfx 😉 OK, now I have to try it. And Guy, perhaps it is just a ph...

Re: Another new noise reduction miracle

Not really necessary, your last sentence is spot on, especially that last part. "Right now I'm finding it needs some massaging, some errors creep in, but it will only improve, and many will decide that level of nicety isn't required." I wasn't arguing that Podcast and similar tools have no...

Re: Another new noise reduction miracle

I think there is another factor - the number of people that can operate at the top level is decreasing. I have no idea why, some blame it on computers, some just blame people, but as Hannes put so well, you have to up your game or fall by the wayside. Adobe Podcast is popular because it is good enou...
