Re: Audio Modeling SWAM V3 of Solo Woodwinds, Double Reeds, Clarinets, and Sax Released
My thoughts so far: Saxes, Double Reeds and Clarinets are all improved. Flutes are still useless for anything classical related.

I only made it about 1 min in, but ouch. That demo has solidified that I made the right call in not picking this library up.

Re: CineBrass Sonore
My assumption for why they don't have a solo horn is because the reason they had the solo trumpet was to get the idiomatic trumpet sound where only the lead player is playing vibrato. They chose to capture this by having three trumpets on their own, and then the soloist playing with and without vibr...

Re: Nextmidi Strings Library? Midi tool? coming soon
Aaron Venture is taking the same approach that Sample Modeling does: ultra dry, clean, phase-aligned samples, with large amounts of scripting on top. Unlike SM, his samples come with layers of IR's already applied to them to place them in a venue (he gives you 4, Large hall, Medium hall, Scoring sta...

Re: Nextmidi Strings Library? Midi tool? coming soon
If you are going down the modeling route, Aaron Venture's libraries are better if you don't want to delve too deep into controller editing, You can play his libraries with a single CC, and he has done a pretty good job of the spatilisation via his own custom IRs. The downside of his libraries is tha...

Re: Audiobro Modern Scoring Brass
I was trying to figure the divisi thing out myself... maybe if the RTs are still playing it can detect it still... either way - works better than I'd expected(although I wont use it for anything but sketching) That's my thought as well. Still, it certainly speeds up the process of writing! One thin...

Re: Audiobro Modern Scoring Brass
The library defaults to "CC Scaled Velocity" mode, where both CC1 and velocity are controlling the dymaics. I've put the manual in the folder where I put my clips if you want to peruse it. @Guy: I still haven't develed that deeply into how the Auto Divisi works, and it's easy enough to wor...

Re: Audiobro Modern Scoring Brass
So I posted this on the other site, but figured you might want to see it here. Just a quick run through of the Ulricht from Mahler 2. 1 Horn patch and 1 Trumpet patch. I've included the full mix as well as all of the individual mics soloed. All internal processing is turned off (comes with an eq and...

Re: Cubase 10 released
I've found the whole "having to force close cubase on exit" thing to be completely random for me. Some days a project will exit cleanly, the next day I have to kill it via task manager.

Re: 2CAudio Precedence / spatialization
I appreciate the honest feedback and criticism as always. Undoubtably cinebrass would get closer, since it's very similar players in exactly the same place as the original recording, but my aim was to see how close I can get sample modeling to matching it.

Re: 2CAudio Precedence / spatialization
Here's a mockup I've been working on-and-off on for a few years from Jurassic Park. All the brass is sample modeling, and the woodwind VSL. Both placed using precedence on each instrument into seperate instances of B2 for the woodwind and brass. Percussion and harp is spitfire, and strings are Adven...

Anyone else finding that that only the main mic mix works? I'm getting zero sound if I use the Bright JW preset for example.

Re: Black Friday 2017
Huh - thanks Zee. So it sounds like it's back to Kontakt for SM from here on? Technically SM never left Kontakt. They didn't develop the SWAM instruments beyond providing consultation and distributing them via the SM website. There are also hints that they may be working on some Kontakt based strin...

Re: Linear Phase EQ questions-"Waves" sale
Based on my understanding, linear phase eqs are only useful if you are eqing individual mics of a multi mic recording to reduce the impact of the phase changes that the eq will cause. If you are just eqing the sum of strings I don't see how using linear phase would be of any advantage over a traditi...

Re: Spitfire Symphony Orchestra and Masse
My guess is that at their present pricing, including percussion would have pushed the price past the $2000 point, which their market research told them was unwise. Just a guess, of course. Yes, but without Percussion, it's not a Symphonic Orchestra, so it is false advertising, which, in the UK at l...

As I mentioned on VI SM have also released an update for the SWAM Woodwinds that fixes the annoying bug where the first note in a phrase would sometimes not play when using the instruments in breath controller mode.

Re: Sample Modeling / French Horn & Tuba v3
<p>Stunning work Sascha! Did you try adjusting the harmonics to reduce some of those overtones? That's my biggest complaint about the SM Flutes, which to my ears have too much of the 1st harmonic and not enough of the higher order ones, making them sound wooden. I've mentioned this to SM, and they ...
