Looks interesting. So many reverbs. So little time, so little money.
Was being very proud of myself, having managed to get past Black Friday/Cyber Monday without buying anything, but did succumb yesterday to Liquidsonics Seventh Heaven at €38 (even though of course I don't NEED it).
There's more than meets the eye

Brilliant.
(Wonder where they got that video!)
And a little bit of a fun send-up / parody of Spitfire hype thrown in too methinks.

Re: Goodbye, Walter. And thank you for all the music
Went to Steely Dan last night at the 3Arena in Dublin - Doobie Brothers were supporting and the sound was awful (and the songs were pretty bland / same-y as well, apart from the great harmonies and the two big hits) and I thought, oh no this is going to be a repeat of when I saw Steely Dan 15 years ...

Re: Fantasic New Series on BBC & Iplayer
Thanks Mikeybabes,
This looks like a slight renaming / rebranding of an earlier version of this - and yes (if so) it's excellent, really worth watching it through. Love the style of it and the way he plays some of the scores himself on the piano.
Paul.

I have a ticket to see Steely Dan in Dublin in December... Thanks for all the great music and great times Walter.
(As I write this, strangely "Third World Man" comes in to my head. Great song).

Re: iZotope Spire Studio - portable hardware mic / recorder
I haven't looked in detail (and yes lots if marketing blah from izotope (they seem to be on a serious drive these days with offers (I succumbed recently to the cheap elements bundle))), but superficially there doesn't seem to be a huge difference between this and the excellent Zoom portable recorder...

Re: New Waves F6 Floating-Band Dynamic EQ
Many thanks X. Agree with all that. Similar process I guess. Good idea re automating bypass switches or filter gains, hadn't thought of that. What's standing out for me from your story is that it's still a lot of work to fix voices / dialogue! Agree one needs the dialogue set right first, in order t...

Re: Project MAESTRO
Interesting idea NoamL. Just thinking out loud (if I understand it correctly, and I may not): Apart from how one might legally reference recorded audio - maybe it's not an issue - might it not be difficult to find passages that have only the desired (and all permutations of) combinations of instrume...

Re: NI Komplete 11 announced [June 17 - half price upgrade sale]
I don't have Komplete at all, never bought it, I just bought Kontakt on its own in 2013, I never thought the package was stellar back then. But now I could upgrade to Komplete 11 for €200 (plus VAT probably) and there's probably a bit more quality in there. Do you think it might be worth it in my ca...

Re: New Waves F6 Floating-Band Dynamic EQ
Thanks so much guys, very much appreciated, and very interesting and new to me. Do the automated tools generally do a good job? I ended up mixing the episodes roughly like this, it was the only way I knew at the time (and still know!): (working in Logic) - import an OMF or AAF, sync it if I need to ...

Re: New Waves F6 Floating-Band Dynamic EQ
Thanks very much Anders for the info and the links, I'd also be interested in what you think of dynamic EQ (esp the waves F6 one and how it might different from waves TrackSpacer) and how you might use it. I see WaveRider is for PT only. For ducking, do you use dynamic EQ or volume automation? (woul...

Re: Thrill – A collaboration of Native Instruments and Galaxy Instruments
Ah! nice one, thanks! I use the NanoKontrol2 and it works fine - the NanoPad2 might sit well beside it ergonomically, and also make things like inputting drums a lot easier than my weighted A-88. (If you have any experience with the NanoPAD2, do let us know). Thanks again.

Re: Thrill – A collaboration of Native Instruments and Galaxy Instruments
Looks and sounds great, great idea. A real-time 'playable' sound design instrument. If one was scoring a horror or something with lots of tension, I imagine this would be really effective and quite a time-saver. Regarding the X-Y control, If one doesn't have an iPad (or joystick), what are the optio...

Re: Handheld / MAD RocknFunk
Piet, thanks so much for that - no, that's good enough for me and clarifies that - I'll be upgrading soon for sure. Maybe there are no differences re the Red then even in programming features (couldn't find this info on the site) i.e. maybe the upgrade is essentially the addition of the White and Bl...

Thanks Piet. So that's what you meant earlier...! Great demos. White sounds particularly good. I read in my email that this library completely replaces the previous one - do you happen to know if it is backwards compatible - i.e. if I have projects that use the old Red (and I do), and I upgrade, wil...

Wow Anders that's beautiful, and a beautiful sound. Thanks for posting. I'd never seen such a beast before. Do you get sympathetic resonance from the bass strings on top, does that give it that lovely rich deep sound?

Re: What's up in the world of cinematic percussion? Looking for specific recommendation...
Hi NoamL, have you looked at cineperc? The timpani, snares and bass drums are all fantastic in my view. Maybe less baked-in reverb than Spitfire, but I don't have Spitfire so I can't compare esp re mic positions etc. Unfortunately cineperc has become ridiculously expensive now that you can't buy the...

Wow just have to say Luciano, trailer no 3 in particular is TREMENDOUS - what a combination of images, SFX and music - super high quality in all three - and the combination is even greater than the sum of the parts... best trailer I've seen in a long time.

Re: CineSamples CineBrass 12 Horns - update, new product and offer
Thanks for posting. Great to see these new updates coming. I wonder how are they going to distribute them though... seeing as they created an entire 1.6 release for the 12 horns update (replicating all the existing nki instruments, creating a new sub-folder with the additional new version), I wonder...

Personally haven't got the projects / funds to justify it, but an audio engineering friend of mine has it, and he says its the biz, especially for matching vocal harmonies.
