UVI Toy Suite

Post by Guy Rowland »

This looks like a big update from the old Toy Museum. I don't know how many are totally new instruments, but looks to be a fair few. Not sure about all the UI changes (the whole book thing with text looks terrible imo), but some important functionality improvements like all the ranges are extended - that stopped me using the sounds on many occasions.

The promo video is pretty rubbish, but these three section walkthroughs are much better:

Acoustic

Electronic

8 bit synth (a la Commadore 64)

RRP €399, introductory discount of €279. Existing owners can upgrade for €99. These discounts good til September 10th.

Had a bonus spare half an hour so quickly went through finding out what is new here above Toy Musuem. Might be a few mistakes, but broadly it seems to be this:

Acoustic

Old Small Piano
Opera Grand
Schoenut Piano
Small Wonnder Piano
Bar Chime
Brown Wood Xylo
German Book
Guitaret
Japanese Xylo
Modular Xylo
Tubular Xylo
Wood Box
Wood Stair
Xylona
Plastic Bell Tower
Cavaquinho
Toy Koto
Keymonica
Keyring Harmonica
Marching Band Harmonica
Mini Accordian
Hammer Flute
Slide Flute
Toy Clarinet
Serpentines
Musical Gadgets Loops & Phrases

Electric

Animambo
Yuhojin
Chord Machine
CK200
CK500
KX101
MR990
Printer Keyboard
Rap One mini sampler
SK Two
Conductor Organ
Cocromine
ElectriCats
Otamat

Synth

Xtra SID Sequences
8 bit synth

For Acoustic and Electric stuff, I'd guesstimate that amounts to 15-20% new stuff, then there's the all new synth. I swear the biggest positive thing will be pitch stretching above the basic range though - that's stopped me using Toy Museum loads of times.

I had the original Complete Toy museum. Thought it would be nice to have some smaller, more basic sounds, but it didn't quite work out that way in the end.
Ended up selling it. The toys mostly just sounds like sub-standard instruments.

The 8 bit synth is a nice addition, but those sounds can be found elsewhere.
