Re: L. A. Modern Percussion - $60 at Pulse Audio

I don’t write much music that needs orchestral percussion [...] but if I were, I wouldn’t hesitate about this deal. __ Similar for me. I do use orchestral percussion regularly, but mainly standard stuff like timpani, gran cassa, piatti. Some drums and the odd mallet here and there. With BBCSO and C...

Re: L. A. Modern Percussion - $60 at Pulse Audio

It's a very good price. Do you have LAMP Larry? And if so, would you recommend it? I don't often need trailer or film percussion. But usually I really like Alan Meyerson's work. So I am sure I would enjoy it sonically. I'm still debating whether I want to do the work of integrating LAMP into my temp...

Re: Spitfire / Appassionata ("Impulse Legato" Strings)

Yes, an additional molto vibrato layer would be very welcome. Ideally a non-vibrato as well. Spitfire did a good job at finding the right balance for the one vibrato layer in this library. It works unconspicously in many situations. Still, some form of control over vibrato would make the library mor...

Re: Spitfire / Appassionata ("Impulse Legato" Strings)

Thank you Guy. I still use Appassionata from time to time when I want a dark, woody romantic sound. I also own the Abbey Road Orchestra Violins 1 (got a review copy). And while Appassionata was a proof of concept, the two libraries are vastly different in sound. If you can get Appassionata for under...

Re: ProjectSAM Lineage Percussion

Sooo, has anybody bought Lineage Percussion? It does sound great, but I am fine with True Strike and the countless other percusison libraries that I have. I hope this is just the start of a new orchestral series from Project Sam. If they do the other sections of the orchestra too I will most likely ...

Re: ProjectSAM Lineage Percussion

It sounds very, very good. And looks - exactly like True Strike. After watching the walkthrough it's not at all clear to me why I would need it when I own True Strike. If I didn't, Lineage Percussion would be at the top of my list.

Re: Black Friday / Christmas / etc tips

Thank you bbunker! It actually makes a lot of sense and I think I know what you mean. I am using BBCSO Woodwinds in that way currently - more like a color or an ambience, rather than as soloists. Usually that works pretty well for me. SSW would probably fulfill a similar role for me. I have to think...

Re: Black Friday / Christmas / etc tips

Spitfire Symphonic Woodwinds at €239 is interesting. Are they still useful today? I like the timbres that I hear in the demos. Are they a worthwile addition already owning VSL VI Woodwinds, BBCSO Pro, and Cinematic Woodwinds?

Re: Cubase 13 [13.0.20 and trial versions released]

It is annoying that the graphics problems have not yet been fixed. The workaround seems to be helping, but I can't say if the problems are completely gone. The flashing screen came as quite a surprise after Steinberg said they had used the delay to iron out bugs.

Re: Incirios announcement - a new sampler and audio engine

Thanks Guy. I am still using the Kontakt version of the strings. Not that I noticed any major differences. I just didn't have the time to put the Incirios version in my template yet.

Re: Incirios announcement - a new sampler and audio engine

Thank you Guy. If I am not mistaken the Legato Espressivo patch has only one dynamic layer. Similar to the Berlin Soloists. I used that patch extensively in the demo. Still, there are a lot of audible crossfades. VWinds would probably better at this. The strings are all Light & Sound Chamber Str...

Re: Incirios announcement - a new sampler and audio engine

What a pity. I would have liked to hear a woodwind piece from you.

Crossfades remain a problem with sampled instruments. The clarinet also has more noise than the other instruments in the library. It may be better for section playing than for solos.

Re: Incirios announcement - a new sampler and audio engine

@My name is nobody I am biased because I was a beta tester for the player and the woodwinds. So I'll refrain from commenting. But I am also curious to hear others opinions about it. @Guy Let's hope so. The player certainly should be very attractive for users, and I hope for developers as well. It fa...

Re: Orchestral Tools Black Friday Sale - 50% off Main Series

Cards on the table. Who uses Berlin Brass regularly? I read that it sounds classical, and that should be right up my street. And I like that it offers individual players rather than just a soloist plus ensembles. However, I also have Hollywood Brass and Cinematic Studio Brass, as well as the Sample ...

Re: Kontakt 7.7 - now with ads

Unprofessional. I hope Native Instruments get a lot of backlash and have to take back the decision.

Now would be a good time for Incirios to release. I've been a beta tester, and it promises to be a great alternative to Kontakt.

Re: Audio Ollie Nashville Scoring Strings - $60 sale

Thank you for the heads up Piet. I appreciate it. But not to worry. I'll get the Nashville Scoring Strings simply for the pizzicati. Anything else that I use them for will be just a bonus. Dimension Strings, for me, are actually an unlearned taste. I used to use them a lot, as you know, for their fl...
