I've left Waves behind when I upgraded to my current computer a few months ago. I do miss one or two plugins (from the small handful I had installed) but I can't miss them very much because I don't even recall what I'm missing.

Musical Sampling / Orb Trumpets

Another nice-sounding and useful release from Musical Sampling: the Orb Trumpets . "Orb Trumpets is a proof-of-concept release that is created entirely out of performances. Recorded in Orb Studios in Austin, TX – the goal was to create a trumpet patch that took our Adventure-style programming t...

Re: Spitfire / British Drama Toolkit: Brass and Reeds

Yes, it sounds great. No doubt about it. All the more a pity, I find, that they’ve focused, yet again, almost exclusively on the slow and very slow side of things. With Andy Blaney increasingly out of the picture — I don’t know whether that is actually true, but that’s definitely how it looks — ther...

Re: The Moogerfoogers are back in town

An outstanding set. And it keeps surprising you. Which I always like. There’s one thing that spoils the fun occasionally for me — but as I’m still running Logic in Rosetta-mode on account of BFD3 still not being M1-compatible, I don’t know if the Moog-code is entirely to blame — and that is that, so...

Re: CineSamples : CineStrings Core Ver. 2.0 Update Released

Good update, I find. Everything's there in one window, programming adheres more to familiar standards and the thing seems to load much faster too.
Never reached for CineStrings much before, but that might change now.

Re: Spitfire / Autograph Grand (free LABS library)

I have nothing negative to say about LABS as a concept and series, Anders. Got four or five LABS instruments installed and occasionally find very good use for them. It's just the way these recent LABS pianos are programmed that I just don't understand. That's all. How anyone would think it's a good ...

Spitfire / Autograph Grand (free LABS library)

https://youtu.be/W_EqkJnj5zg Spitfire have released another one of their inexplicably weirdly programmed pianos, the Autograph Grand . The good news is that it’s free and that it’s got a great sound. The bad news is that, like the Glass piano of last year, it doesn’t respond (or hardly responds) to ...

Re: $100 off Nugen plugins for filling in a survey

Any thoughts on Monofilter? Seems potentially worth the risk at $29. Monofilter is no risk at $29, it’s a very useful and high-quality tool. That said, if all you would need it for is narrowing the image of the lower frequency range and you’re not too fussy about how it’s done, you could just as we...

Potentially interesting, but it is to be hoped, for Rhodes’s sake, that it is capable of a better sound that what is heard in this presentation, because that all sounded a bit flat and dull and in no way beyond the capabilities of other fine virtual Rhodesoids to me. But perhaps forthcoming demonstr...

I’m sure that to many people, Pacific may be the ideal stringslibrary, or close to it, for any number of very good and totally sensible reasons — which I don’t want to take anything away from —, but there’s something in the Performance Samples’ sampling recipe that makes for a result which, sonicall...
