Re: ProjectSAM / Summer Sale (-30%)

...but I love me some Animator!

So well recorded...I’ve made a lot of these combos myself, but PS really has wonderful fidelity. (Bought.)

Edit-it’s easier for me to like Angelic in smaller productions, but definitely not for larger ones, not for me.

Re: ProjectSAM / Summer Sale (-30%)

Mostly, I was interested in the basic tone of the instrument and how it fits into orchestral or chamber recordings. Does it sit nicely? Does it disappear?

Re: ProjectSAM / Summer Sale (-30%)

Thanks guys. The EWQLSO harp is still my go to! Spitfire and Cineharps keep coming up. I listened to the Chocolate but wasn’t knocked out. Oh well. I have a feeling it’s hard to go wrong with Animator.

Re: ProjectSAM / Summer Sale (-30%)

What’s lacking in the tone? It’s a LV library, so you need to animate the dampening of the strings. The prerecorded glissandos are ... prerecorded. Limited FX although the flageolets are really good. The mic choices are close as in claustrophobicly close or Decca. It’s kind of honkey (can be useful...

What’s lacking in the tone?

(Harps seem very subjective-I’ve been unhappy with Angelic Harp, others seem quite fond of it)

Re: ProjectSAM / Summer Sale (-30%)

I got free orchestra a while ago, and it was a nice little surprise. Any comments on the harp-does it still hold up? I’m thinking the Harp and Animator, which could be useful for a possible upcoming gig.

Re: Spitfire Audio 'Symphonic Motions' Library Released

I find myself more interested in ARKHIS at this time, for a little more money. Different beast, but in controlling my gear lust I'll have to choose one.

I can’t believe it wouldn’t...

At this point. Komplete 13 Ultimate is shaking up to rather nice, eh?
Good point-I’m on 12. Might be worth waiting.

Man, that sounds pretty good. A more harmonic Thrill with an easier control setup. Price is pretty reasonable. Does it look like the LFO syncs to project tempo? I couldn’t tell.

Anders-fair point. Personally, I think they could use better demos to intrigue people into trying it. The price is reasonable enough.

Me too. I was hoping for various other sound sources, including single orchestral Instruments, though that’s not what they’re aiming at.

A fast turnaround competition for a paying job

TOO funny in light of the Spitfire kerfuffle, but: I've been working for a fledgling music company for a few years and have won some jobs. The turnarounds are usually very quick. The jobs vary, but they are often web videos and mostly buyouts. Recently, I've partnered with them and we won a competit...

Re: Native Instruments Stradivari solo violin

So far, I don't find the sustained tone felicitous, don't like the vibrato much and haven't heard one example of agile legato. On the positive side it seems versatile :)

Re: Synapse Audio OBSESSION Synth Released !

I have Analog Labs and when I compare the thickness and versatility, I go for A.L.

Oh, Syntronik interface is a little annoying too (for me.)

Obsession, on the other hand, sounds pretty dope to me.

Re: Synapse Audio OBSESSION Synth Released !

Plus it’s a pain to install. It’s hard to complain about “free”, but a composer friend and I were texting back and forth trying to get the damn thing to work. For anyone going for it, you need both Syntronik Free and SampleTank 4 free, which isn't made clear. The dL’s were slow as heck on my system ...

Re: Synapse Audio OBSESSION Synth Released !

Jay, change to mono mode. Do you hear the wonderful sound of all oscillators in a thick glorious one voice sound? No, you don’t. Nor is there the noise generator from the OBX-a. Trust me, I owned one. This ain’t it.

Re: Synapse Audio OBSESSION Synth Released !

Wow. The pads in particular have a very luscious analog sound.

One thing I don't get, which I didn't understand with the (free) OXa from IK-if it's modeled after an Oberheim (the color scheme is the same) why no noise generator, why no unison mode? (or is either there somewhere?)

Try PIB at the lowest velocity with a fair amount of verb. Pretty nice for cinematic mellow.

Re: Simplesam releases Signature Grand

I own Emotional Piano and never use it. Clearly, you have more affection for it.

I’m more likely to take Piano in Blue and eq/place it on a stage or in a hall for that sort of sound. It’s somewhat inconsistent but I like its character better.

Re: Simplesam releases Signature Grand

Guy, could you give an example of a piece of music that has the requisite featheriness and can cut through? I don't hear a lot of that out there, it more seems like one or the other. For example, I love the Spitfire Labs felt piano, but it's a one trick pony.
