Re: Bohemian Violin v4 (expansion 3) released - now with 100% less UVI
Installation was pretty confusing for me. And me. I posted about my installation confusions over on VI-C and I was a bit underwhelmed by Virharmonic's reply (basically that they would improve the documentation/tutorials rather than improve the actual software). Otherwise, my first experience actual...

Re: Bohemian Violin v4 (expansion 3) released - now with 100% less UVI
Any noticeable CPU drain? No complaints at all in this regard, at least from short term monitoring. It's effectively idle. Presumably it runs on start up? Or is there a way to have it just run when you start Gorilla Engine? Yes, if you set the service to Manual (in Windows Services), when you load ...

The performance improvements are significant, but beware it installs Yet Another Privileged Service on your computer for copy protection, a la PACE. (On Windows it runs as LocalSystem, which means it can do anything.)

Bohemian Violin v4 (expansion 3) released - now with 100% less UVI

Re: Waves Clarity Vx noise reduction - whoa
Impressive results for $30!
All the demos were covering fairly persistent background noise. I wonder how it deals with intermittent noises like chair movement, background clicks and other transients.

That's certainly not being helped by the lack of rebowing, as discussed earlier.Guy Rowland wrote: ↑Jan 22, 2022 7:33 am Something about 0'54 slightly bugs me too if we're being picky.

Re: Spitfire / Appassionata ("Impulse Legato" Strings)
Yep, I unsubscribed from all Spitfire emails some time back. It was simply out of control. Valid criticisms, Malachistos. I too miss rebows, but at least I did know from the walkthrough I wouldn't be getting them in the main legato patch. (There was one passage Paul played were their absence was qui...

Re: Spitfire / Appassionata ("Impulse Legato" Strings)
Yes, Spitfire's marketing is hyperbolic and cringeworthy. I imagine we've all by now learned how to tune it out. And their walkthroughs will overstate the utility of the product. But this is not an indictment specific to Spitfire either -- it's fairly common for developers to consider their products...

Re: Spitfire / Appassionata ("Impulse Legato" Strings)
Nothing revolutionary here, nope. But you know what, this sounds good, at least to me. And the price is respectable. I bought it, and my cursory impressions are favorable. Unlike most Spitfire libraries I buy where I hear something janky (or worse) within 60 seconds that should never have gotten thr...

Re: FabFilter / Volcano 3
Are there any other Fab Filter plugins you recommend? Pro-DS and Pro-G are competent plugins if you're mixing voiceover. If you have those gaps filled already, I wouldn't say they are must-have though. However if you're in the market for a sexy delay (and honestly who isn't?) then you could do much...

I'm really impressed with the Steinway B Felt preset. At least as good as any of the sampled felts I've heard.

Re: Orchestral Tools: Tom Holkenborg's Percussion
I got a bit angry and forgot that you can't write negative things about products in forums. You must be silent if you don't like something. Not here. Just don't be a jerk, anything else goes, including criticisms. All I can tell you is your since-deleted post would not have come close to raising a ...

The user deleted their own post. It wasn't an act of moderation. (I saw it too, and didn't entirely disagree with it either, even if it could have been a bit more tactfully worded.)

Davinci Resolve would be a good option on the Mac. The free version is shockingly capable. It's a bit of a beast, but I was able to learn the basics of editing in about 15 minutes.

Re: Orchestral Tools / Tallin (Estonian voices and strings)
But I guess you're right... not everyone sees it that way :) That would only have been lying douchebaggery if there was any statement or implication that we were hearing samples but actually weren't. All the visuals in the video implied we were hearing real performances. When you see performers on ...

Re: Orchestral Tools / Tallin (Estonian voices and strings)
of course the Tallinn trailer is 100% sampled. It is not live, we would never do that without explicitely stating it. This is great to hear, Tobias. I really think that should be made clearer in the video itself. For this one, at least updating the Youtube description might avoid confusion from oth...

Re: Orchestral Tools / Tallin (Estonian voices and strings)
Are the music from the library or a recording of the orchestra? I didn't see any indication from the trailer that these weren't recordings of live performances. All the video content was from recording sessions, and none of the usual "hah look we fooled you" cutaway to a DAW. It certainly...

This site is very clearly dodgy. FabFilter Total Bundle for 10 bucks? I'm tempted to throw that 10 bucks away just for the opportunity to investigate what's going on here.

I'm rather eager to see it released soon myself, but that's mainly because I have a) Christmas vacation time and b) no extended family exposure due to quarantining, so this is just the perfect time to play with a new toy.

Re: Black Friday Post Mortem - How'd You Do?
I think people will be blown away by how much Abbey Road Modular exceeds the sampling depth of the libraries that were released in the 2012-2019 era. I wish I could share your optimism and enthusiasm, but I just find it really difficult to get excited by Spitfire's output nowadays, especially after...
