Re: VSL : Synchron Duality Strings (Sordino) Released !

Is it just strings that you’re changing Guy? I’d love to get a list of your chosen patches because my extreme laziness and general distress about EW patch naming have kept me from swapping out HOOPUS and instead letting Play versions remain in my template, and that’s a project that I plan to take on...

Re: VSL : Synchron Duality Strings (Sordino) Released !

It took some years before Play finally got stabilized. Since then, the few times that I’ve needed tech help from them, the response has been superb.

Re: VSL : Synchron Duality Strings (Sordino) Released !

Gotta go with the VSL on this one Jay. I’d be curious though-if you’re still in experimental mode, your Afflatus demo seems much drier. Can you give it a bit more space and not double the lead 8va? Sure, here it is, and I took off the compressor as well. Scene d'Amore sordini example 2.mp3 Much bet...

Re: AUDDICT / Broken Heartstrings Piano

Piet-listening through, the first piece you posted (“a little run through”) is gorgeous. It’s really my favorite and seems noticeably drier than the others. Was that the case or are my ears deceiving me?

Re: AUDDICT / Broken Heartstrings Piano

With the F and F# being glommed together it’s not typical and i can’t tell if there’s a 7th in there. Interesting.

Wish I’d EVER had the range to sing “Maybe I‘m Amazed!” That B was B-yond.

Re: AUDDICT / Broken Heartstrings Piano

Stridency is probably the wrong word, but between 1:56 and 1:4; of the first piece you posted, I heard more edge than I would have expected from a “sift” or “muted” piano. That’s not a bad thing at all, for it to have some range, and those softer passages have warmth and nuance (especially in the lo...

Re: AUDDICT / Broken Heartstrings Piano

I also found it a bit more strident than expected, but your edited patch and your musicality in the piece you posted make the instrument much more attractive than the commissioned demos do. You should offer it to them.

Re: FREE: BFD Player, drum VI with 5gb library

Works on my old system. Good kit, smart marketing to Mae you want you to buy more.

I couldn’t find a way to tune individual drums-does anyone know if the basic player is crippled?

Re: FREE: UAD LA-2A and $49 11-plugin offer

I think they’re going full Waves.

Still on Mojave, I have to update to at least Catalina to use the LA-2A. Fear and loathing.

Re: VSL : Synchron Duality Strings (Sordino) Released !

Thanks for doing that, Guy. For my money, both versions become washy by the second or third ostinato repetition. Are you only using the built in room sound or also some external reverb?

Re: NI cut fees for Kontakt 7 indie developers

I’m still on Mojave and am perennially pissed off at being forced to update a practically perfect working system, to the point that I am willing to not purchase new tools that insist I update. Of course, the day eventually comes where I Simply Must Have Something. Hasn’t happened yet.

Re: Waves Online Mastering

The price point makes it work. $6 as opposed to $100-$150 for human mastering is a sort of no-brainer gamble. I might try it as well.

Re: Abbey Road Orchestra - Violins 1 announced

Guy, Your string list is interestingly close to mine. I don’t have the Symphobias except for Animator and I have Albion 1 but not One. I also have CS2 which I find useful to this day and BBCSO Core, which I don’t. The rest match up. Oh, forgot Appassionata and the old EWQLSO. Probably forgot a few m...

Re: Avid to be Acquired for $1.4 Billion

I’m glad I don’t have a dog in this fight. The studio I worked at for 20 years had ProTools 3 and a complicated method of syncing it. I’ve been far too involved in wrangling Cubase since 1997 to bother with PT, but with the work I do I haven’t had to. I feel for those who have had to worry about Dig...

I was still heavily into music in the 90s,

The 90’s rekindled my love of electric guitars and bravura, semi-cynical rock. Nirvana were rocks gods for me, much along the lines of Zeppelin but with more Beatle-influenced writing. Same with Oasis. The rest was just a Blur 😉

Re: Spitfire Audio / Trevor Horn's "Jupiter"

Whenever the seminal moment in your music history happens, your heart will always lie there. I was 26 in 1980, had just gotten off the road and moved to NYC. My influences were hard wired. BEATLES, Simon and Garfunkel, Joni Mitchell, straight ahead jazz, Steely Dan, Hendrix, Zeppelin, a few progs li...

Re: Spitfire Audio / Trevor Horn's "Jupiter"

Listened to the walkthrough, and after a while tried to imagine how I would feel if it was a new retro collection from a no name company. My conclusion is that I’d think it was ok but not worth buying to add to my current sounds. I think the synth pads are generally replicable in Omni and most of th...
