Re: VSL VE Pro and VI Pro silicon native and VST3
I’m also looking at VSL solo strings “full” at $162 through Ilio.

Re: [NEW] VSL Duality Strings
Another nice thing re VSL-I own VEP (a few versions), one BBO and SE winds and that’s it from Vienna. When the iLok transition happened, they turned SE winds into SE basic, giving me all of the instruments of the basic SE orchestra. Damn generous. The folks at VSL, like Paul Kopf, are really good p...

Re: [NEW] VSL Duality Strings
Thanks-I do hear the intimacy in some of the demos. I don't like them much when they're louder, feeling they have a sort of "buzzy quality to them. Maybe, as you say, it's just a matter of hearing them more prominently.

Re: [NEW] VSL Duality Strings
Thanks for the review, Piet.
I have no experience with Synchron strings, but in listening to the demos I found that the softer side of Duality appealed to me more than the louder side. Any thoughts along that line?

Re: [NEW] VSL Duality Strings
So, so interesting. Overall, the piano and pianissimo sound much better to me than the forte and mezzo forte , which sound sort of buzzy.
Lots of possibilities and options here though.

Re: Spitfire Audio BBC SO Piano
Caught up in the hype, Piet. No excuses. The Holy Grail continues to elude. I have my standard (VGP2), my few specialties like OBG, Piano in Blue, Spitfire Felt, the Abbey Road uprights, the clanky old Braunschweig (I know how you love that one!) but the Grail.... no. On the other hand, I have quite...

Re: Spitfire Audio BBC SO Piano
As immune as I am to Spitfire’s marketing, I take a flyer now and again. Strangely enough after all the ones I’ve bought, I’ve not found the piano of my dreams. The most expensive one I’ve bought recently was the 300 Grand, which I find to be largely disappointing. I doubt I’ll consider the new Spit...

As I posted on VI-C-why does a digital product ever need to be “retired”?

Re: Apple WWDC 2023
I priced out the Ultra with 128 GB RAM and a 4 tb SSD. Came out to around $5500, video monitors not Included. Not too bad considering a composer friend bought a Mac Pro with similar specs about 3 or 4 years ago-for 20k. We banter back and forth about a lot of things but I don’t have the heart to go ...

As with all keyswitched instruments, I just keep pressing low keys until something magical happens. Or doesn’t.

Re: Native Instruments Summer Of Sound '23
Thanks for doing that Guy. I found that I had to drag tempo and it still wasn’t consistent. Yours sounds better. I wonder if it’s the difference between AS 1 and 2 or just user error on my part.

Re: Native Instruments Summer Of Sound '23
Guy, do you find that Action Strings 2 sync to tempo perfectly? I used the earlier version once on one piece, and sync was a real struggle.

I’ve only listened to the oboe tracks, but they all seemed to be played forte with a hard attack, which I find curious.

Re: Cinesamples Industry Brass and Musio subscription platform inc "Lifetime license"
I bought CinePerc for $81. Great stuff. Then I had a rare moment of profligacy and bought CineBrass (both versions) and CineStrings, which are fine but totally unnecessary for me. Does anyone believe that the $499 Musio deal will be limited to “the first 100 buyers?” I don’t. Still-I think Cineperc ...

Re: Audiobro LASS 3
I bought the upgrade but found the interface almost as arcane as the LASS 2.5 and haven’t dug into it very far. I haven’t replaced the old LASS in my template.
I opened 3 today and found one thing strange-it seems everything is set to poly legato? Is there an easy way to switch it to mono legato?

I don’t think having developers aggressively defend their products from peoples’ opinions is a thing we want to have here. Key word “aggressively.” Hi Larry! hope you are well!
