Waves Central broken - official offline workaround [NOW FIXED]

Post by Guy Rowland »

I stumbled onto this today. The latest version of Waves Central - 1.3.6.3 - does not work, it cannot install products in the normal way, nor create an offline installer. Furthermore, Waves Central will only run on the latest version, so older versions will not work either.

Waves have told me there is a "temporary problem", so hopefully this workaround won't be needed for long, but here's how to install while they fix this last version:

1. Quit Central and your host application.
2. Download the offline installer for Windows - http://cf-installers.waves.com/Offline/ ... st_Win.zip and Mac - http://cf-installers.waves.com/Offline/ ... st_Mac.zip
3. Unzip the file to your desktop.
4. Launch Waves Central and click Install Products.
5. On the left column, choose Select Offline Installer.
6. When prompted, highlight the Waves folder on your desktop and click Select folder/Open.
7. On the middle column, select the products you wish to install.
8. Click on the Install button.

I should have updated this - the situation lasted about 72 hours or so, and AFAIK its back to normal now.

I shouldn't worry about the WUP. In the past 5 years it has been necessary precisely zero times. As and when v10 comes along, then doubtless you'd need the WUP to update, but seriously what can it bring at this point? Fancy GUIs?
