The Hania Rani shrine

I've not stopped listening to her since YouTube knew me well enough to recommend her a few years ago (there's a legacy thread but felt it needed a shiny new one)

So, this.

I mean, come on.

Then there's this other 4 song set, more synths in this one

These two I have played to death in the car and on walks. Good for landscapes.

If it's sheer visual gorgeousness you're after, it's hard to top a 105 minute summer sunset over Paris. If I'm being picky I think I prefer her solo than with a band, but I mustn't grumble.

This is lovely! Haven't heard of her, but really liking what I hear here (got to love the English language, always confused when I write "hear here"). Thanks for posting this Guy as I had clearly missed this before.

Happy I converted someone, Jaap!

I hadn't played her stuff in a couple of months and finding it again was like bumping into a beloved friend. I love how things flow, how each of those 4-piece sets has a single song in them as a centrepiece.

I'd love to know how much cheating she does in these performances, I'm sure some stuff is coming off the DAW you can see vs long loops. One thing I particularly like is the combination of electric, upright and grand pianos, often all going at once, other times with textures backing them. As I was listening in the car, I was thinking the unseen mixer is kind of a musical partner, the use of delays and textures that I think are treated live piano, weaving in and out of her own performance. Very cool.

Most of the comments on her videos are very Earth Mother about how she is one with the piano and all that. But yeah I kinda know what they mean.

Yeah, YT algo did the same Rani trick to me a few years back ;-)
She has that trance inducing quality, kind of Niels Frahm like-minded.
