Re: Trump and movie tariffs
I totally see your point of view Mike but it may not be so cut and dry especially since we don’t know the details. Absolutely. I know zero details, and honestly, since it's Trump, I'm not even going to bother looking into it, since we all know everything will change by the end of the week. Waste of ...

Re: Trump and movie tariffs
Hollywood are as horrified as everyone else. Not the Hollywood I live in. I wouldn't be surprised if the studio execs are opposed to this, mind you, since they only care about the bottom line. But SAG-AFTRA just announced they're open to discussing it. Again, I don't know the specifics. (And I ...

Re: Trump and movie tariffs
It's funny that my L.A.-centric self clicked on this thread, thinking it was going to be, "Finally! At least something Trump's doing might actually help us!" I totally forgot this is a very international forum. :D I don't know enough about this one yet to have an opinion. (I'm only posting because I ...

Re: Unintelligible dialogue
Gotta agree that it keeps getting worse. That age chart is insane! I assumed it was reversed. I checked out that Last of Us scene, and was surprised that I understood most (but definitely not all) of it. I say "surprised" because I doubt my hearing is better than yours. I suspect part of my ...

Re: Audio to MIDI software that will do drums?
Mike-give it a try. I got some really amazing results, not on everything, but on some things it was awesome. Definitely! I'm not sure what actual uses I'll have for it, but it sure looks like fun. (Okay, actually I can think of a few uses for it.) Here's a video that goes through the process of how ...

Re: Audio to MIDI software that will do drums?
Damn! I hadn't heard of lala.ai until Larry mentioned it, but I watched a video for it just now, and it's really impressive.
Guy, what's the name of the feature you used in Superior Drummer 3 to do what you did? Can it give you an actual MIDI file/track, or does it simply replace?

Re: Musio - latest stuff
I know Mike has a feeling these assets can be sold, but few people have the coconuts to create a library out of someone else's old samples like he does (screaming trumpet) Ha! It's really interesting you said it that way, because Screaming Trumpet, which I repurposed from excellent samples of Wayne ...

Re: Sound Paint Disco Strings
There was discussion about this over at that other place: https://vi-control.net/community/threads/soundpaint-disco-strings.151712/ People there seemed to love the sound, although there is some of the usual 8dio sloppiness and bugs, mostly with legatos. Seems like it might be worth it overall ...

Re: Audime vocal replacement
SynthV (and others) use marketing words like AI to describe certain things they do, since "AI" is the flavor of the month. But it's not the same sort of LLM scraping we associate with AI in recent months. Specifically with companies like Udio or MidJourney or ChatGPT, which scrape tons of data using ...

Re: Audime vocal replacement
SynthV definitely lets you can sing into it, rather than typing and entering MIDI. I sang "Somewhere over the Rainbow" in their NAMM booth (with headphones, so as not to torture other people) and it played a different singer replicating what I sang, warts and all. You can then tweak the MIDI and ...

Re: Audime vocal replacement
SynthV does this, too. (Although not many people know it, since those guys are the worst at demonstrating what their product can do.) I gave Synth V, and I wasn’t aware that you could sing a track, change the vocal into “styles” ( as opposed to just vocalists) and have it pick up the lyrics as this ...

Re: IZotope RX11
Watched Hush Pro video ... jaw on floor ... okay, I think I get what you were saying. :D I can't imagine iZotope was thrilled to see Hush Pro come out, because yeah, that really does raise the bar. Or at least created an additional bar. (I'm guessing it's very specific to solo voice.) My guess is ...

Re: IZotope RX11
It needs to be big, iZotope have fallen way behind the competition. Will be interesting to see if this corrects the trend. I'm far from a power user, still using RX9 to clean samples because I haven't bothered downloading RX10. (It's in my account, I just haven't bothered downloading.) Honestly, I ...

Re: Musio - latest stuff [MUSIO 1 $199 this weekend]
I’d jump on this deal if I didn’t already have all of CineBrass, CinePerc, and so many other titles from Cinesamples that it’s hard for me to justify buying Musio 1 over other investments; but I think this is a great deal nonetheless. Because I bought the Cinesamples stuff I wanted during the glitc ...

Re: Musio - latest stuff [MUSIO 1 $199 this weekend]
13 hrs to go. Yeah ... this is Cinesamples, though, so I'm taking all bets that they extend the sale. "Popular demand" and all that. Even if they don't, we can be sure they'll repeat the sale within a few months, possibly even cheaper. Then again, I caved and bought it just now, so I guess I'm not ...

Re: Maybe Spectrasonics HAVEN'T forgotten about rhythm...
I don't think Spectrasonics is at NAMM this year. They're normally in the Ilio booth (along with VSL, AAS, and some other companies that Ilio distributes), but Ilio's booth is on the smaller side this year. Who knows, though. The NAMM map is here: https://www.nammshow.org/event/nammshow/maps ...

Re: NI cut fees for Kontakt 7 indie developers
Malachistos is right. I challenge anyone to do all the additional NKS work required in under a week. (I took me several weeks the first time, although I'm admittedly slow.) Also, the encoding fee is only a part of the upfront cost. Unless you're only going to order 100 licenses in your first order ...

Re: The bunker is no more - intruding Bunker Perc, now in the summer sale
I had always assumed the "bunker" was in Viet Nam, and of the era when we were at war there. Now that you explained it was in Copenhagen, I realize that makes way more sense, since (from my admittedly lacking knowledge of the war history, aside from what I saw in movies), they had tunnels, not ...

My god, that guy is inarticulate! "This instrument is less than half percent edited" is just one of the cringey gems in there. This has been a really ambitious project, and I've been much more nervous about this instrument than others, because I went so far overboard with the upfront recording costs ...

Yep. Totally clear, and I think the rest of us all knew what you meant. And ironically, you weren't even being negative about Engine.
But I don't know where else "you think ... our engine doesn’t work ..." could have come from.
