Re: 2 new Rhodes emulations: Lounge Lizard 5 and Magic Tines
I played a Wurlitzer 140 for years, then a 200, then a Rhodes sparkle top suitcase.
I have several great virtual ones now, no need for others.

Still the best and most versatile complete orchestra, IMHO.
And Opus is more user friendly, if not as customizable, than Kontakt.

Re: VE Pro 7 has Kontakt auto migration
I was an early VE Pro adopter and as far back as 2010 I wrote about how to use it with Logic Pro in my book “Going Pro With Logic Pro 8.” But with the ability to save groups of instruments in Logic Pro’s library, Logic’s improved CPU efficiency, and now having a faster and more powerful computer, cou ...

Re: Templates again, and process
I have a dozen or so of them, for different kinds of projects, but the ease of loading saved patches from Logic Pro's library probably renders most of them unnecessary frankly.

Re: New Logic Pro update
Thanks for the headsup. FWIW, if you really care about high level stem separation, you better use https://ultimatevocalremover.com – granted, it's not "builtin" and thus less convenient than Logic, but you have access to better sounding models that way. (The title is misleading, it's not just about ...

Re: New Logic Pro update
Wow, that’s possibly the longest New Features and Enhancements list I’ve ever seen! At first glance, I’m more curious about the Stem Splitter update than any other feature. In my experience, separating keyboards from guitar has been a tough ask. Separating piano and guitar would be a good start. I d ...

Re: Re-learning plug ins from scratch
I take a lazy approach that probably most of you would never settle for. I try presets until I find one that puts me in the ballpark of what I want it to sound like. If I get the result I want I save it as a user preset. Since I understand the basics of what most plugins do I frankly don’t give a f ...

Re: Re-learning plug ins from scratch
Not just plug-ins. I wrote a well regarded book about the score editor in Logic Pro, but since these days I rarely am hired to print out scores for other composers because they don’t have the budget for a live orchestra , I mostly just do chord charts and lead sheets. So when I am called upon to do m ...

Re: Sleeper libraries or developers
These days, unless there are problems that require a surgical EQ, I am most likely to reach for a channel strip rather than separate EQ and compressor and I am pleasantly surprised at how often the PSP InfinitiStrip and Appogee Symphony ECS are all that I need. After a long time hiatus from it, I am ...

Re: Mozart's "The Magic Flute" for chamber strings
Well, Wolfie himself never heard his music played by anything larger than a chamber orchestra as the modern symphony orchestra paradigm didn’t come along until later, so it’s fair to assume he composed with that size orchestra in mind.

Re: Opus solo cello, is it really bad?
I said it at the time it was released and got excoriated on the other forum. I really believe that often it’s a case of one guy says something, others repeat it, and then it becomes the common opinion. There were two solo violins. The first one was terrible, but the second one, I think is c ...

Re: East West Hollywood Fantasy sections $34
Well they are very different. EWQLSO was recorded in a concert hall by a Classical music engineer while the HO was recorded in a studio by a film engineer. The biggest difference otherwise is that HO has “true legato” while EWQLSO doesn’t. But EWQLSO has a lot more patches, some of which are really g ...

Re: East West Hollywood Fantasy sections $34
nice to know that, I'm pondering the Opus Hollywood Orchestra now, today is around 220€ with the coupon I still believe it is the single best sounding and most complete, if you want a big orchestra rather than a chamber orchestra. And Opus is vastly improved over Play, much easier (for me, at least) ...

Re: Global Film Decline
I used to go to movie theaters a lot. I miss it. It’s definitely more special to see a film with other people as a communal experience. So why do I hardly ever go? 1. It’s gotten expensive, even with senior prices. 2. Often, yes, it’s too loud. 3. My wife has become a stick in the mud and it’s hard t ...

….occasionally go back and listen to a few years of your work? Dunno about y’all, but I do this once in a while. Sometimes it’s revelatory in a good way, often it’s cringeworthy, but it almost always leads to me remixing a few things that were worthwhile efforts, mixed in a hurry. Yes,, occasionally

Re: How to use mic positions in sample libraries
Not directed at ANYONE, but with sample based music, as soon as somebody starts with “I always” they have lost me. I change mic positions all the time, depending on how it is sounding to me as I mix.
