So it leaves existing plugins alone? I’m trying to really really clarify, pardon my stupidity.

Re: Native Instruments Summer of Sound 2025 (inc mini reviews)
Right. My question is about pathways and what the upgrade actually does. For example, does it leave K5 and K6 in place? Will it mess up my VEP templates and my Cubase projects?

Still have the old drives hooked up, I think that would cause chaos.

Stupid question here-so I have Komplete 12 Ultimate and would like to update to 15 Ultimate. I need to put the libraries on new drives as the locations for 12 are long filled.

Re: One of the Greats, Sly Stone, Has Passed
Geoff, Fantastic tribute to one of my favorite artists of all time. Sly was the coolest, the best, the baddest. He brought the funk, he brought the energy, he brought the soul, the song writing and everything else. I love the fact that you highlighted his version of “Que Sera Sera”, because that’s al ...

Re: Can you be objective about your material?
Your self doubt is unearned, Tanuj.
.
Let’s face it , though, it’s a thing across the spectrum, affecting most creatives.
In an extreme case, I wonder if it’s what killed Johann Johannsen (pardon the spelling.)

Re: Can you be objective about your material?
I always enjoy hearing that genius composers (Daryl, Rob, just to name two in this thread) have the same struggles with self doubt as I, a worker in the trenches, experience.
I also enjoy the tales of overcoming those voices, which one has to do to carry on.

Re: 2 new Rhodes emulations: Lounge Lizard 5 and Magic Tines
. I would have been delighted to have either and a nice light MIDI controller back when I was hauling way too much poundage (a Fender Stage and a Hammond) to gigs. Ditto, Larry….a Rhodes suitcase and a Hammond B3 with a Leslie 122 were both a blessing and curse back in my days of playing in a band. ...

Re: 2 new Rhodes emulations: Lounge Lizard 5 and Magic Tines
An interesting comparison, not only of products but also demos. They both sound good to me but the Lounge Lizard is demo’d with a much more bravura style of performance that might make it more attractive upon listening. I would have been delighted to have either and a nice light MIDI controller back ...

Can you be objective about your material?
Personally, I go in phases. There are times during which I find my own songs and compositions quite felicitous. At other times, I wonder why I ever thought I could write a note of music, everything sounds bad to me. The truth, of course, lies somewhere in between for most people. My recent ...

Re: East West HOOPUS $179 - first week of June only
I caved in, too, primarily for the Orchestrator, and I also got the Fantasy Orchestra. My god, I'm in awe. I've been a very vocal critic of EW and Play in particular. But these new version are truly miraculous. I don't want them for composing, but for playing live on a new 4 keyboard + full pedals ...

Re: East West HOOPUS $179 - first week of June only
I bit. Needs an awful lot of HD space, doesn’t it? Couldn’t even install just the strings (around 415 gig) on an HD that has 700 gig free space. (Probably the amount of free space required needs to be at least twice the size of the download.) __ I’l be interested in your take. For fun, try the mod w ...

Worth it for a second computer, I would think.

Re: Bono: the book, the show and the movie
OT, but “Say Anything” is a must read. Good review, Guy. Not sure if I’ll read it, but I’ve always been fond of U2 You mean Say Nothing I think? And read that indeed. Saw they also made a serie from it, but maybe that should be in another topic. Of course I do, thanks ;) yes, both book and series ar ...

Re: Templates again, and process
When I got to divisions like “World Instruments Tonal” and “World Instruments Percussion” and “World Vocals Male” and World Vocals female” and “World Instruments Atmospheres”, all taking up 100 tracks or so-sheesh. Considering that one out of one hundred pieces I wrote might be “world.”..it started f ...

Re: Templates again, and process
All of what everyone is saying about their ways of working makes sense to me. It’s definitely composer specific.
Is everyone using disabled tracks, and if so within your DAW or in VEP? Guy, did disabling in Cubase ever stop messing up routing?

Re: Templates again, and process
I’m absolutely incapable of being organised and work with a template, never been. But I have saved Ve Pro configurations for different projects that help me when I need some particular instrumentations, as well as Kontakt or Opus multis, so something like “template building blocks“ if you will. When ...

Re: Templates again, and process
I explored something like this Thomas in Cubase, but it's clunky as hell to use track presets or archives. Just horrible. In Pro Tools I think it would work really well though, their track preset implementation is super-slick. As it is, I do have my skeleton template which sounds similar to yours ...
