Re: Orchestral Tools / Time Macro

Sounds somewhat like a more orchestral, less chamberish British Drama Toolkit, which I surprised myself by buying. Though limited, it has found a place in my arsenal. I like this one as well though it’s a bit more expensive.

Re: Bolder Sounds / Fiddle!

Hahahah! Not my intention at all Bill, but you know that. @Mike Greene: do it! I know you can, and I really do think there is a market in the $100 range. I 'll even give you a demo if you like, and you don't have to give me an NFR. I hate to waste work, so of course I took my 5 am meanderings and ma...

Re: Bolder Sounds / Fiddle!

Thanks Ray, and sure, it helps. I played violin in school and a little in clubs (very badly) so I know how the thing is supposed to work. You would NOT want to hear me play the actual wooden thing, however.

I really need to woodshed there, since I went out and bought one, jeez.

Re: Bolder Sounds / Fiddle!

I'm not trying to rag on the Bolder fiddle, but as I said previously, it didn't move me off my primary instrument for this, the finicky Garritan Strad. This took me a half hr, and if the instrument wasn't such a note hanging pain in the butt, it would have been quicker. I've ed'd it some here and ad...

Re: Bolder Sounds / Fiddle!

Realibanjo is excellent at a very reasonable price. The Bolder mandolin is awesome for a very reasonable price...sounds fantastic and easy to use. All of Tracy Collins Indiginus guitars are very very good at around $50. These are plectrum instruments which are clearly easier to sample, none of that ...

Re: Bolder Sounds / Fiddle!

A thing I did with the Garritan Strad a few years ago. It’s not a long comprehensive piece (just a library track) but the tone of the Bolder doesn’t beat it, imo.

Re: Bolder Sounds / Fiddle!

Mike, except for the omission of fast strums up the neck ala Dixieland, I find Realibanjo very satisfying. What was the price of that, again? ;)

Interesting to hear your efforts, Bill and Piet. I have a feeling both of you can better the developer demos.

Re: Bolder Sounds / Fiddle!

I've been holding fire waiting for some user demos, but, well. I love me some Bolder Sounds. I go back to using their stuff on CD for Roland samplers. I use their mandolin and banjo and love 'em to death. Always reasonably priced, always good quality. The price of this fiddle is fair, and I'm sure s...

Re: Spitfire introduces their Studio Series with Spitfire Studio Strings

I bought BDT for it's burbling, re-bowed (and re-blown) oddness. It was a VERY rare, quick impulse buy for me. I've used it on two tracks and can see using it for more, but it's basically a one trick pony. They seem to be going for more with this collection, but to my ears they haven't gotten there ...

Piet, when you say "faster and more agile" are you talking about the ability to play faster passages smoothly?

Re: Spitfire introduces their Studio Series with Spitfire Studio Strings

Business is about making money. I'm fine with that. The evangelism ( "we do it all for you because we're so passionate about our craft", etc.) has always struck me as a little curious. Cranking out product that sells and selling it would seem to be the goal, no?

Re: Spitfire introduces their Studio Series with Spitfire Studio Strings

I tend to think of spiccato as lighter, less bow pressure than staccato, as others have said, bouncier- but I defer to those who know more. As a (terrible) violinist, I would play the two markings differently. What's more important for written music is that the intention of the composer is understoo...

Re: Sample Fuel - Pad Motion Updates to 1.5 - Many New Patches

I did pick up Pad Motion. Thank you for your consideration. I had one odd problem with the download. When I tried to simply download, I got a “failed” message 3 times. However, when I downloaded with WinZip as the default unpacker, it worked fine. Strange. There are some nice things in Pad Motion so...

Re: Sample Fuel - Pad Motion Updates to 1.5 - Many New Patches

Danny et al-

Having bought The Hybrid Bundle (at a very reasonable price, admittedly) I wonder-would you guys consider doing upgrade pricing for Pad Motion as an incentive to early adopters?

It feels a bit like buying the same piece parts over again. Cheers.

Re: Softube / NI bundle sale up to 75% off

The LA2A came with the UAD card I bought as part of a starter set (this is the Legacy version, btw). Before that I had been using various stuff, Waves Renaissance compressor for a while (really pretty nice as I recall), stock Cubase, Waves C1. When I started using the LA2A, I literally stopped looki...

All about sound for me, Guy. I loved it on vocals....it seemed to smooth things out and have a warm, dare I say analog, effect.
