Re: Vengeance Producer Suite - Avenger synth [1.3.1 FM cross modulation out now]

massive isn't hard, but the layout might be initially confusing. hard today without having used avenger but it sounds like it's a little more organized/clean about it. the general feel of drag and dropping knobs is nice though, which is why I had fun with massive. the major difference to me off the ...

Re: Vengeance Producer Suite - Avenger synth [1.3.1 FM cross modulation out now]

I used to have some fun with massive, but I quickly ended up honing in on the osc's and filters I liked most, and was too easy for me to get stuck in a rut.

Re: Vengeance Producer Suite - Avenger synth [1.3.1 FM cross modulation out now]

sounds great guy.

One day I'll splurge on a synth - are you still championing this? I've been liking what I've heard from convo based synths, figure it would be a fresher batch of sounds - almost entirely contrary from analog classics - but this seems like it's a pretty full featured synth.

to be fair, marketing for just about any library over 200$ makes insane statements. the finest _____ ever recorded, the last _____ you'll ever need. Everything you need to make the next ______.

Re: Spitfire Audio - Ólafur Arnalds Chamber Evolutions

well since each note is recorded, it would cost 0 time to limit key ranges to sections. one. when you record A4 make it only violin 2s . that would be an alternative, not sure if thay would be the popular opinion for the evo libraries though You should send them a message asking for this. Not sure ...

Re: Spitfire Audio - Ólafur Arnalds Chamber Evolutions

You could make the argument that they would have to record 4 times as many things, but if you figure that you're paying musicians per hour if you paid the musicians to perform a 10-hour session, it would cost you the same as bringing each ensemble in separately for 5:10 hour sessions, however the on...

Re: WANTED - Looking for a collaborator to write a trailer piece for a library

While I'm not particularly up for anything - I did think it would be nice to know what your particular strengths/input would be - and what you're looking for in a collab. It looks like based on the second track you're a pianist? Working with Jaap must have been fun... my brain's not wired for hybrid...

Re: Spitfire Audio - Ólafur Arnalds Chamber Evolutions

I still have a major gripe with this series... they can't do sections for some reason... It's like their whole "we hate actual music, and pretend every instrument is just a keyboard patch" mindset is single handedly what slowly makes me hate spitfire. They can record things well, have visually pleas...

Re: Soundiron $99 deal for 6 products inc Mars choir

oddly I had Venus from one of those deals and didn't like it... didn't buy it for that though, and despite it looking like it's the primary reason most people will buy that one I would buy it mostly for the other stuff and it on the off-chance that I liked the choir I loaded Venus up again just to m...

that's when it was first released demo made with only the performance legato patch(and one bass pizzicato patch)

those aren't even the shorts, just the performance legato patches(probably using tree and ambient blended)

Re: VSL Synchron Strings I

Part of the appeal to me is that it promises to be a library that requires far less keyswitching or multiple articulations than most and more responsive to real time playing, like Samplemodeling instruments and some other newer ones. I feel like performance legato patches from spitfire are the ones...

Re: VSL Synchron Strings I

Seems like I can work - but it doesn't seem to jump out as being worth it. Might be one of those things where the library takes a little know-how and the early demos aren't really an indicator of the potential. Might also just be a weaker library for the synchron series - which will work if the othe...

protip: you can double and stack consonants to make them louder and clearer. This is obviously something useful for any EWQL WB library

Re: Hollywood Choirs

https://www.dropbox.com/s/uq3sgw4uhvdeff9/modwheelhc.mp3?dl=0 that's a little verb + predelay + doubling just to make it a little wetter, using the mod wheel a little to get an idea of the dynamic range. The thing I liked about SC that is missing in this - is the fact that since velocity meant a lot...

ohh by the way.

"Symphonic Choirs users should not upgrade to PLAY 6 until after the next Word Builder update. Please check back soon."

that's something worth noting. Is it possible to leave play 5 if you download play 6?

Maybe I'll Pony up the money to do a comparison using composer cloud. I just assumed that the point of discussing this so those of us who don't own it can get an accurate measure of the difference between the two. I'm sure both can produce excellent results, but I'm not convinced the improvements ar...

Kyle, you didn't initially make that distinction. You said there was "no noticeable difference." Your exact words, and empirically wrong. That is all I wanted to address. if you're going to take me literally to the point that it's useless then by all means. but don't upload an intentionally poor ex...

Re: Hollywood Choirs

Just catching up... Kyle, it's pretty unhelpful imo to say that Jay's A/B is worthless, it clearly isn't. Obviously it shows the spatial difference, and that Hollywood Choirs is much more present especially in the sopranos and altos, but perhaps most significantly there's a lot more vibrato with SC...

Re: Hollywood Choirs

basically, I think your example is insanely misleading. It's like(and I have seen this) someone take a solo trumpet patch from something, then line it up with sample modeling - and without changing a single CC, just playing straight on the keyboard with no dynamics. Both sound bad, but one is comple...
