Re: TC Electronic System 6000 Native
Was just demoing some of these today on a mix I finished yesterday, specifically MD4 and VSS4. Still early, but VSS4 has a “sound” to it I instantly liked. Still figuring out the algorithms (particularly like Castle Hall and Church) but so far it lends "polish" to the mix. MD4 seems like a...

Re: Performance Samples Con Moto Strings Bundle on Sale
I do have the CM series, minus violins. They are narrowly focused in their usage, but in that they are very very good. In particular, I use the Celli any time I require a particularly expressive passage where other samples aren’t quite as effective. As such, I don’t believe I’ve ever used CM exclusi...

Re: Cinematic Studio Woodwinds
Thanks! Some things in the mix could be a little clearer, but the point is that working with the series is now as consistent as one could hope for.

Ha ha! Thanks Guy, duly noted. I have a feeling I’ll be thinking of you now every time I reach for a triangle! There’s always cowbell.

Re: Cinematic Studio Woodwinds
Oh boy, it's just too much fun working with CSW to not post something. I've been writing purely orchestral pieces lately and replacing VSL SE Winds with CSW has been liberating. Now that we have Strings (+ Solos), Brass and Winds and Piano, my workflow has definitely improved, and making things soun...

Re: Cinematic Studio Woodwinds
There were some comments about the library being out-of-tune on vi-control. Have any of you noticed tuning problems with this library? Yes, most definitely. If you listen to the instruments in isolation you notice it right away. But in the context of a full orchestral piece, while I can still hear ...

Re: FLUX:: / SPAT Revolution (released)
Update: It would seems that there is some multithreading confusion between SPAT and Logic on my machine. Lowering the CPU thread usage in Logic to be the same as it is in SPAT (12 cores instead of 24) consistently makes the sync error stay at a minimum of 1. Meaning that there are no dropouts or cli...

Re: FLUX:: / SPAT Revolution (released)
I am just worried, they will discontinue support for SPAT V3. And that’s not good news for existing users. It depends on what you mean by "support". The last ever update was released earlier this year, so it is what it is. I've just bought Revolution, so once we really get into the nitty ...

Re: Cinematic Studio Woodwinds
I agree with all the positive comments after spending a couple of hours integrating them into a template and now using them on a cue. There are a few spots where my eyebrow was raised (the Flute has a slight tuning issue in its lowest register, lowest dynamic layer, and some of the dynamic layer tra...

Re: Modern Scoring Strings (aka LASS 3)
I would not discount them before demos are out. If they are releasing another flagship string library, I reckon it’s because they can improve their sampling, editing and scripting methodology, adding new ideas to boot. With everything they have released in the past, they’ve always tried to push thin...

Nice indeed!
There’s also this https://tal-software.com/products/tal-chorus-lx which I’ve been using for a while and really like. Also free. No idea how accurate it is.

Re: Black Friday Post Mortem - How'd You Do?
Oh, I also pre-ordered the Full Score of James Horner's Aliens. I am looking forward to working thorugh that. I'm sure there will be lots to learn in there. I'll probably end up with a black belt in string clusters. Nice. The standout for me this year was Hofa IQ-Series Reverb v2. Works really well...

Re: LiquidSonics Cinematic Rooms
I don't have the standard edition, but I reckon it will come down to how you like to use the Reverb. I find myself choosing a preset and then dialing in the exact sound I want every time. So if you are someone who usually relies heavily on good presets, I'd go for the Pro. If you are happy to dial ...

Re: Native Instruments Stradivari solo violin
There are same strange issues I’m hearing - definitely something with the vibrato, but also some kind of movement, undesired in this case, whereby the instrument seems to inch closer to the listener, losing some of the room in some of the sustained notes. Still, impressive.

Re: Modartt / Karsten Collection (add-on for Pianoteq)
That sounds marvelous, Piet, well done! Fits the image of Holmes perfectly and there are a ton of interesting things going on musically, as usual with you. Great work on the violin arpeggio figures - great way to take the intensity level up. The instrument sounds lovely. I'm not in the Pianoteq camp...

That’s unfortunate, Piet. Seeing that Logic also crashes, it might be worth sending OT the crash log that is generated after the crash so they can investigate. Provided one is created, of course.

Re: Orchestral Tools Layers - Free Instrument
Well, the stand-alone SINE software runs, as does the AU plugin in Logic, no problems there, but as soon as I try to download anything, it crashes. So I guess SINE isn't fully compatible with 10.11 after all. _ Ugh, sorry to hear, Piet. Have you tried downloading in standalone mode instead? Perhaps...

Re: Orchestral Tools Layers - Free Instrument
Wow indeed. Sadly, I need to install a new OS before I can run SINE (or the Korg Collection, for that matter), and in order to do that, I need to buy a new Mac as my current one can't run anything higher than El Capitan (10.11.xx) ... So it will be a while before I'm able to explore anything that's...
