Re: Futurephonic Rhythmizer 2.1 VST and AU
Wow. This is quite cool and fills a niche for me. I'm usually tinkering around with an arpeggiator until I get something decent and often just end up playing the part in after all. This could be quite the shortcut to get closer more quickly! Looks very versatile and for $25... (though these little &...

Re: Arturia Pigments 4
Rats! I have barely had time to open Pigments 3 since I updated and now this... Watched the video and boy, just having the "Play" page come up first is a godsend: I love me a complex synth but it was positively overwhelming before. Yep, modulation looks as simple as can be now. Hopefully, ...

Re: Native Instruments voucher and new free instrument
Can't blame you. Feel the same way, largely. The thing about the (uninspiring) Play series for me is like you said, synth presets, not particularly outstanding ones either. So if I can program them on my array of HW/SW synths, I don't 1. want to take up unnecessary GB on my SSDs and 2. be robbed of ...

Re: Native Instruments voucher and new free instrument
Actually, the voucher did work for me very late last night in the US store, but apparently only briefly before NI realized the glitch. I did indeed get Neoverb for free, which is ironic, because even at $25 I wasn't going to buy it (lots of verbs already and this one doesn't seem all that great to m...

Re: EastWest / Hollywood Orchestra OPUS Edition
... Gems: - 1st violins Stacc Slur patches. Very, very useful for playing "connected" shorts. Also great to use in runs or for accents in runs. This is probably the biggest gem in all of HWS. Somewhat limited in dynamics - Cellos sus and legatos are great. They have a lot of weight. If yo...

Re: Samples From Mars Collection
Huh. I seem to be off their marketing emails for some reason, but remember buying their collection several years ago. So that list you found, Guy, is quite welcome. Only occasional use out of the lot, but I did keep the gems. Off I go to check out what I missed from the new releases.

Re: Fiedler Audio / SpaceLab (Immersive 3D Spatialization)
I'm not considering it, Fritz, no. I'll definitely check it out though, to see what this Fiedler software is all about, what it is capable of and how it sounds, but unless the version of SPAT which I have now (v3) turns out to be completely unusable on the new MacStudio -- I'll know in a month or t...

...I also find the act of composing a very private one, and have a hard time accepting the interference of someone that has prepared things for me. Well this is a bit overstated I admit :) Actually, I definitely identify with this as well, Rob. It's a very personal, intimate process and somehow fee...

:) I understood you were just pointing out that it was not a necessary purchase. Re: G-Force / OB-E (Oberheim emulation)
It supports polyphonic aftertouch and sounds gorgeous. I would immediately buy it, wouldn't I have just spent way more on a hardware synth (Novation Peak). Maybe later, but I already feel so guilty having spent that much on something that won't "pay for itself" as some people say ... :) I...

Re: VSL / Synchron Harp
Yes, sounds lovely indeed. Very detailed, delicate sound. 8 dynamic layers is more than anything else out there by quite the margin. And the overview in the player is easy on the eyes, so usability should be good. However, am I in the minority here about feeling that actual recorded glissandi are ab...

You're welcome guys. Not sure how much we should read into any of this to be honest, as I did not massage anything. Also, the look-ahead feature was disabled. If I start writing more with it I might post something so we can all hear how it fits into an arrangement. EDIT - just saw your post, Duncan....

Thanks for the update, Luke. I feel mean after such a thorough post to ask for this, but can you describe a little more about how different the automatic legato sounds and feels in practice? Spending a little more time with the Celli this morning (and a foggy brain!) I am rather pleased with the wa...

Re: Audiobro LASS 3
Ok, so pulled the trigger and had a little play with the 1st Vlns (divisi all in one patch). My first impressions, coming from someone who's used LASS as a main library for a decade: - The engine breathes new life into the library. Will have to get used to the new workflow and figure out how to best...

Re: Black Friday 2021 (inc early deals)
Thanks Luke - it's still total nonsense here, so I can only conclude that they're rejecting / scrambling UK IP addresses. I can't even sign in. In theory, their 15% discount at the current exchange rate would make it £260 - that's about what I've got it for for the last couple of years IIRC. Ah wel...

Re: Black Friday 2021 (inc early deals)
And now a request - Avid have a 50% discount for Pro Tools subs, but no offers for perpetual licenses (seems to be the way of it now). Often retailers do their own discounts however, and I see Musician's Friend should have 15% off. Unfortunately their website is non-functioning for me on multiple m...

Re: Audiobro LASS 3
I have been waiting so long for this... very happy to pull the trigger. LASS has paid for itself over and over and the idea that I can keep using it well into the future, with easier workflow is an easy sell. I don't use it on every project but it has a valuable place.

Yes, that was clear during the video, but it sounded really quite good! It was also illuminating to see the musicians involved speak with so much reverence for their ‘National’ sound.

Re: Incoming / ISW Tokyo Scoring Strings
Still, sounds stiff. I think it could have been recorded more spaced out. The vib sounds more like a distortion pad like vibrato. Something is not right. I just does not sound fluid, like these thype of strings would. I think they sound very good, and what you hear that's different is the lack of R...

Worth noting that with Apple's transition to their own silicon, Play5's longevity might not be as extensive as we'd like to think.Personally, owning the Diamond version I'll probably upgrade before year's end.

This thing could be something, at least once it allows for sample import. Not sure what all the technical stuff means as of yet, but I'll try it later this week. If anyone gets any of the packs, do let us know what you think of it. 8dio seems to have recorded some pretty far out stuff.

I almost feel bad to get this at a discount, but I couldn't justify it for just the chance it might land in some project in the future. But with the discount, I simply cannot refuse ... You will not regret this purchase in my opinion. It is a fantastic sample set. There's a 'raw authenticity' (what...
