Re: Spectrasonics Trilian 1.5 released
Yeah - the thing about Spectrasonics is they do updates (other than RMX) without additional charges. I think Omni 2 was a paid upgrade? but lots of updates since. All of their products are workhorses for me, and I don't regret paying full price for them at all. Can't say that about other libraries I...

Re: Spectrasonics Trilian 1.5 released
There's something about a company that doesn't do sales that appeals to me. Like Valhalla and Spectrasonics. Makes me want to support them more. Where as, I've been waiting for Zebra to go on sale for a good couple of weeks now. (sorry - don't mean to distract from this thread). I updated, but I don...

Re: Cubase 11 released
The queue thing is a big one in my mind. Even if I have to manually adjust/make the alt mixes and stems and such, queuing them up is huge. Imagine you are working on 3 or 4 project throughout the day. You queue up various mixes and stems as you go along - no need to wait for them to render. At the e...

Re: Cubase 11 released
So, if I have all my tracks grouped (say drums group, keys group, winds, strings.....) Can you then tell it to bounce a mix of the entire piece with just the drum group and the bass group and it will give you one stereo track?
What's you favorite new feature - or fixed/improved area?

Re: Cubase 11 released
Really like the added Audio Export features. Reaper has a similar system, though this seems a bit more powerful? Really hoping Logic will implement something like this. I wonder, can you do alt mixes or just stems? So if you want a mix without drums, and a mix with just bass and drums...., will this...

Re: Mastering The Mix / Bassroom
I do like it and bought a license. It’s very easy to use and it has improved my mix translation. I had a mix sounding pretty good, checked it in the car and it was a bit boomy and muffled. Apple Bassroom with some adjustments and much better.

This. This is what I’m committed to until Nov 1.Ashermusic wrote: ↑Oct 27, 2020 10:23 amMy guess is that with most of us, if we deleted 50% of what we have and really did a deep dive on what remains, we would create better sounding music.

I was thinking the same when I got the email last night. I know Piet really likes this bass. Think a new version is in the works?

Re: Spitfire @ Abbey Road !/?
The only (last?) time I will say this - their marketing shenanigans really turn me off. It's to the point where I see an announcement of an announcement of an announcement kind of thing and just cringe. It must work for them, but not me. I haven't bought anything from them in a long time - mostly be...

Yeah, it’s the iMac Pro (oddly enough) that can’t be upgraded down the road.

Re: (Slightly) new iMac
Having been around long enough to have gone through the Motorola 68XXX to PowerPC chips, then the PowerPC Chips to Intel (And hopefully from Intel to Apple SI) I can comfortably say that the switch won't make the intel models obsolete. If history is an indication, the intel chips will still be suppo...

Re: Native Instruments / Orchestral Tools ARKHIS
Wait - is that the SINE player or Kontakt? On the NI site is says Kontakt player, but that is the first time I’ve seen someone do a skin that takes everything “Kontakt-ish” away.

Re: Eastwest Hollywood Orchestra Opus Edition
I’ve ignored the Play engine because of the issues I’ve heard with the Mac version being so inefficient. I understand they have corrected that some time ago, but the damage (Admittedly unfairly) was done in my mind. Maybe it’s time to rethink that and give it another go, now that they are offering a...

Re: NI lays off 20% of global workforce and tease new platform [update 14 Sept]
You mean you need Kontakt for house sound as well as for the players employed by the show? Edit-I see you answered Guy, but it still seems strange. Freeze the OS, no? The show needs 6 computers. Always dangerous relying on something that is out of date, in my view. For a small home studio, it's not...

Software Updates
I have to say - I am growing ever more tired of software updates. I did my taxes this week and TurboTax notified me that I can use their software this year, but next year, it won't run on my system. Why? They can't possibly be changing their code base so dramatically that it won't run next year when...

Re: NI to no longer allow registration of legacy products
We can all vote with our wallets and make sure NI knows that. They maybe the huge dog in the fight, but not the only dog. If we could rally, similar to how we did with the Discover Channel and Your Future, we could out an end to this practice and stop future devs from doing the same. Not an easy tas...
