I've found the whole "having to force close cubase on exit" thing to be completely random for me. Some days a project will exit cleanly, the next day I have to kill it via task manager.

Based on my understanding, linear phase eqs are only useful if you are eqing individual mics of a multi mic recording to reduce the impact of the phase changes that the eq will cause.
