Re: UVI Falcon 1.5 and Workstation 3 updates

Unfortunately this is not handled asynchronously (just like how there's no background loading) in Falcon/UVIW. Given that Reaper itself completely hangs during this process, it seems to me that Reaper shares some of the blame here too. Even if I run the FX in a dedicated process. Really, blocking t...

Re: UVI Falcon 1.5 and Workstation 3 updates

Looking forward to seeing if overall performance of Workstation has improved. The Bohemian has always been painful to use in terms of UI performance -- at least with Reaper. The main problem here is Reaper's undo. It's saving the whole plugin chunk there, and for Bohemian, since it has so many samp...

Re: NI Kontakt - update to 5.8.0 [WITH WARNING]

Anyone still using those old Kompakt-based libraries, there's a workaround now. Find NativeAccess.xml and move it out of that folder somewhere. Now RA, EWQLSO, Stormdrum and others will work just fine. However, some of the most recent KP libs needing 5.7.3+ will not be shown in Libraries tab then (l...

Versus HALion and especially Falcon, it definitely is. HISE is inching in, though. Kinda hard to properly compare with PLAY and Vienna which are closed systems.

Re: NI Kontakt - update to 5.8.0 [WITH WARNING]

Thankfully args/returns can be hacked in with a few extra variables, ehehe. SublimeKSP does that nicely. I won't argue that it wouldn't be useful to actually have them implemented. But, pretty much all devs are on SublimeKSP now so... I'd rather NI adds new functionality to KSP, and extend what can ...

Re: NI Kontakt - update to 5.8.0 [WITH WARNING]

KSP does have proper functions - albeit without arguments, returns and recursions.

But Lua is not really THAT slow. It's much faster than Python. Still, even JIT compiled (as it is in Falcon and HALion 6), it doesn't match up to KSP...

Re: NI Kontakt - update to 5.8.0 [WITH WARNING]

There's some work done in debugging area. Can't say any more details.

KSP isn't going anywhere, I think. It's still more efficient than Lua for doing the same things with realtime priority (privately confirmed to me by Blake from Spitfire).

Re: NI Kontakt - update to 5.8.0 [WITH WARNING]

Do you know if they plan to allow Add Library locally for NI stuff? Absolutely no idea. I agree that it would be really useful. In any case, I did file a feature request for that in Centercode (beta tester bug tracker). Otherwise its refinement, not innovation. Kontakt was best in class for efficie...

Re: NI Kontakt - update to 5.8.0 [WITH WARNING]

Also, Kontakt's team didn't have the same product designer throughout the years. Staff changed, sometimes quite radically (I'm in fact not exactly sure if any of the original Kontakt programmers are still in the team - perhaps just one of them, or at least one with the most knowledge of the codebase...

Re: NI Kontakt - update to 5.8.0 [WITH WARNING]

Over on KVR, Evil Dragon says there is an error with Kontakt 5.8.0 and some very old libraries not working. Fix on the way in 5.8.1, so a good idea to hold fire for now. Just an asterisk, I don't think I said that the fix is coming FOR SURE in 5.8.1, but that NI is aware of it and that we will PROB...

Re: NI Kontakt - update to 5.8.0

But, it is quite interesting how many Kontakt users are OK, with this amount of stagnation, and years of waiting for a new version, I'm personally not very happy about that. Really? You call having this many subversions "stagnation"? That is clearly a very wrong way to look at things. Kon...

Re: Pianoteq 6.1 released

I have to imagine that feeling is even more intensified for someone competent? Absolutely. I'm a mediocre player too, but I wouldn't want to attempt even playing a piece that needs a pretty competent player, like MacDowell's Witches Dance, on any sample library, honestly. Can you imagine how many n...

Re: Pianoteq 6.1 released

I always get angry with sampled pianos because they just aren't as playable or responsive, and I will always find sour points in any one of them: noise buildup from multiple micing (solvable, but can kill a lot of the sound if overdone), lack of realistic behavior with pedalling (every sample librar...

Re: Pianoteq 6.1 released

Hah, ironic, usually most people not liking Pianoteq suggest that attacks are all wrong in Pianoteq. :D BTW it does sound like the "Condition" slider in that demo was set to "Mint", which would mean perfectly regulated piano (I still wouldn't call it "dead"). Things get...

Re: Pianoteq 6.1 released

That's because it's the cinematic preset, so it has some compression going on... It does seem perfect for the piece. But even with compression it does sound alive. Well to this pair of ears anyways.

Re: Introducing Red Room Audio and the "Palette" Orchestral Series, plus a freebie!

Well, I'm listed on the website , so I guess Dickie considers me as part of RRA. It's literally a sister company to Impact Soundworks - Dickie does graphics for ISW, I do scripting for ISW, Christian does audio editing for ISW, and also Nabeel helped with some scripting (and he's main KSP developer ...

Re: Introducing Red Room Audio and the "Palette" Orchestral Series, plus a freebie!

The trailer is in the first post, first video link ;) Yeah there's no recording stuff to tape through Neve preamps here to smear the frequency response like Spitfire do it (to great effect, might I add). It's a pretty dry hall so it might be that. Personally I don't find the sound harsh, honestly (e...
