Re: Acousticsamples V-Horns saxes spotted

That’s the thing, Rob, there’s so many easy ways to adjust the sound. Play around with the different mics as well. yep... my impression is (trying for a classical orchestral tone) that if I'm using an IR based reverb it's better to just go with the MIC1-close mics exclusively, no virtual mics... th...

Re: Acousticsamples V-Horns saxes spotted

I don't know Larry, the reason why I bought V-horns is exactly because I'm not satisfied with what I have... Cinebrass core and pro, Chris Hein orchestral brass (compact), VSL special edition, the old EWQLSO, plus SM trumpet and bone and Audiomodeling Brass. And Wivi which despite its age still fin...

Re: Acousticsamples V-Horns saxes spotted

thank you, I'm considering buying the brass, if they are as expressive as their sax counterpart... They are. Steve Porcaro of Toto fame heard the flugelhorn solo on my song demo for “And So It Begins” and immediately sent me a text message asking what it was and where he could buy it. And I probabl...

BTW, for those of you who don't know, while Stan Kenton, Thad Jones, and others monkeyed around with seating, this is the most common.

Re: Acousticsamples V-Horns saxes spotted

Arnaud lied to me, promised me a beta:) But since I love V-Horns so much, I will forgive him and buy these, especially in light of Piet's mini review :) Bye, bye Broadway Big Band, you served me well, but we probably now will largely part company. EDIT: Bought and installed, only played for 15 minut...

Re: Please share your experience with Acousticsamples basses

I have not tried these but I own V-Tines, V-Reeds, V-Horns, B-5, and the Sunbird guitar and all of them are stellar, so I would be shocked if these were not as well.

Re: Spectrasonics Flow Capture for standalone instruments

Nice, but he says that you don’t have to deal with audio interfaces. So hat is he listening through, computer speakers? I may be misunderstanding, but I think not dealing with audio interfaces refers to not having to record through some sort of loopback (which I do routinely through RME TotalMix). ...

Nice, but he says that you don’t have to deal with audio interfaces. So hat is he listening through, computer speakers? I own Omnisphere, Trillian, and Stylus RMX. I don’t own Keyscape. I know it’s good because Steve Porcaro uses it and waked me through it. But I already hav great pianos, Rhodes, Wu...

We have had it in Logic Pro for quite a while. The ARA can be a bit persnickety but yes, Polyphonic mode is pretty incredible.

I'm happy to trade precise control for something that sounds genuinely performed, which is closer to the real world of working with a real musician.

Re: UAD Spark - no hardware, but…

Wow, that's amazing Jay - a 2018 Mac Mini is fairly lowly by current standards, eh? It's a good question on whether or not you need to keep the hardware. I think it should work as long as you don't sell the plugins with the hardware. Buying them in the first place is the trick, without hardware you...

Re: UAD Spark - no hardware, but…

I just ran a test comparing the new UAD native plugins vs the DSP based versions. I loaded the Neve 1073 on 32 tracks playing audio files on my 2018 Mac mini in Logic with a 128 buffer and it didn't break a sweat. I then tried to swap them out for the DSP based ones using my UAD-2 Quad and got the m...

If, like me you own a UAD 2 card, don't be surprised if what should be your free natives are not showing up in IA Connect or on your iLok. Delays in Native (UADx) Licenses for Owners of UAD-2 Plug-Ins If you already own a UAD-2 plug-in or UAD Instrument that has been ported to UADx, then you can get...

Re: Spitfire APEX sale / 50% off

I will say that in paid projects like my last one where all the music is under dialogue I will use libraries like Spitfire Symphonic Motions. But even there I will likely filter out the high strings notes from an instance’s preset that I choose, then open another instance and filter out the low stri...
