Re: Bye bye Kontakt, hello UVI Workstation/Falcon!
As i wrote many times on that "other forum" the more viable sample engines, the healthier for all of us. Remember Gigastudio? We all would be wise to use multiple ones. I use Play, Kontakt, Engine, UVI Workstation and the EXS24. While obviously they have different capabilities I am philoso...

Re: Orchestral Tools: Metropolis Ark 1
Very helpful, confirms all my original assumptions.i won't spend the money now because I don't get hired much for bombastic but they day I do I will be on this like white on rice. Sounds just great!

Gotcha. Which Neves, btw?Aesthete wrote:I have never been a big fan of the API. It's very good on Guitar, drums, rock, etc. but slightly grainy to me that just does not suit my taste.
I have 2 channels of real Neve hardware as well so I always compare to those.

Re: THE UAD Holiday Sale - Ends Dec 31st
For my uses it just works. I little midrange boost on any virtual instrument or synth by ear and magic. Saying that, I'm sure allot of these original UAD plugins could use v2's. Thomas' favorite UAD EQ Neve 1081 for $99, My favorite Trident EQ $79. James, FWIW, the Trident is one of the few I don't...

James, FWIW, the Trident is one of the few I don't think they got quite right. The Softube version is better IMHO.

Re: Orchestral Tools: Metropolis Ark 1
I never thought it had to do with your job. I thought it had to do with your philosophy of composing. That is because you are a reasonable and thoughtful person:) It has less to do with any philosophy I have however, than just the way I think while composing. I just don't think "strings" ...

Re: Orchestral Tools: Metropolis Ark 1
Not my kind of thing as I don't get hired to do that big bombastic stuff and i don't like combos In general neither do I, but I remember your post when you were bemoaning the concept behind CineOrch- my, that got out of control quickly, didn't it?!? Indeed it did, but thankfully this place is diffe...

Not my kind of thing as I don't get hired to do that big bombastic stuff and i don't like combos, but I gotta say it sounds really good and is attractively priced, so tip of the hat to the OT folks.

Re: Cubase 8.5 released
No it makes both Jays unhappy and if I had my own company, I think I would do it differently. But that is why those companies are massively successful and I will never be.Lawrence wrote:I imagine that makes Jay the consultant happy and Jay the pro user less so? (no bias here, just curious)

Re: Cubase 8.5 released
The same thing happens with Logic Pro. Feature upgrades mean new customers, core issues resolved make happier users who are more demanding present users. Guess which way 90% of companies are going to put most of their energy?

Re: Your Holiday Hauls
I almost bought some stuff, one click away, but then remembered the promise I made to myself at the beginning of the year, "Jay, if you don't have a project now or in the near future where you are unhappy with what you have to accomplish it, put away the wallet." So difficult to stick to t...

Re: Black Friday - the essential guide
I've had this discussion in another place with Jay over UAD EMT140 compared to Altiverb EMT140. Having never owned or used UAD hardware/software I obviously can not make up my own mind on the similarity or difference and it doesn't bother me at all. If I add Altiverb EMT140 to a track I'm working o...

Re: Black Friday - the essential guide
For what it's worth, I haven't bought into the UAD hype and I don't miss it yet. The idea of offloading processing for minimal latency and conserving resources is the biggest selling point, I think, more than the plugins themselves. But now that computers are so powerful...it's less compelling, at ...

Re: Output Exhale
I have only had a little time to mess with it, but I am really impressed with the possibilities. For the right score, I swear with nothing but this, Logic Pro's Alchemy & Sculpture with the Arpgeggiator MIDI plug-in, & Omnsiphere I could accomplish an awful lot in a short period of time. It ...
