Re: [NEW] VSL Duality Strings

Not sure I still have them, Snarf. Since mid last week I'm officially an ex-owner of the Dualities and I removed everything related to this library (*), including my folder with tests, little exercises and audio examples, from my HD. But I'll have a quick look, there still might be a copy in the fol...

Re: Streamtech (Maxime Luft) released Iconic Violin (Kontakt)

I prefer a violin to sound fuller, rounder and warmer than this one does -- is it just me, or does this Iconic have a razor-blade-thin and often folksy timbre? -- but apart from that, this seems to be well-made.

Re: [NEW] VSL Duality Strings

Here is another wonderful sounding demo showing VSL Synch. Duality Strings in action. Amazing and fantastic piece of work of course, but impressive as the strings are during much of this piece, they do give, surprisingly, only a very small idea of what the library is all about. See, most of the str...

Re: [NEW] VSL Duality Strings

Mmm, I don’t know, Larry. To my ears the softer dynamics don’t sound noticeably better or worse than the louder ones. (I say ‘ones’ as if there are several of both, but to my ears there’s only one of each — in the legato patches, that is —, maybe there’s a third one in the middle but I don’t hear th...

Re: [NEW] VSL Duality Strings

As promised, a few quick words about the Synchron Duality Strings. I could make this really quick and simply say, truthfully, “I’m seriously considering returning this to store” and be done with it, but as that’s of no use to anyone, I’ll add a few more lines. Duality is certainly not a bad library ...

Re: [NEW] VSL Duality Strings

It’s too soon, Linos, I’m sorry. Only installed Duality yesterday evening, just before calling it a day, and I had other things to do today (and, alas, the next few days as well), and I really do need a bit more time to explore the library, lest I say something about it now which I might regret or w...

Re: Spitfire Audio BBC SO Piano

(...) The most expensive one I’ve bought recently was the 300 Grand, which I find to be largely disappointing. (...) I’m a little surprised that you went for that one, Larry. The 300 is among the last pianos I would ever think you’d enjoy to any degree. Me, I like it (for certain types of piano par...

(...) if it has catch-pedaling and (...) half pedaling. (...) There’s none of that, Jason. There are no sympathetic resonances either. Re: Spitfire Audio BBC SO Piano

Spitfire is like an old girlfriend. You’ve completely grown apart, you see her walking down the street married to someone you can’t imagine in a million years being worthy of her smile and her affections, she’s changed into someone you barely recognize, and yet … some of those old feelings-warmer-th...

Re: Spitfire Audio BBC SO Piano

My little post on VI-C was largely triggered by the illimitable imbecility with which the community over there — not counting a few exceptions — have greeted Spitfire’s latest. From the first second, they seemed to have decided, en masse, that this new library deserved only to be treated with stupid...

How would these instruments perform in an orchestral setting? (...) Pretty good, I find. While it wouldn’t surprise me if many people feel that the built-in spatialization options on their own, don’t quite cut it for serious (mock-)orchestral work, after exploring the many possibilities a bit, I’m ...

I’m fairly sure this one was developed in the belief that they could get closer to the original than anyone before them. Otherwise, why? Yeah, it does. I've mentioned more than enough already how I feel about most of the others, but this one might tempt me back into the TT fold. Great room sound around the drums too.

Re: Introducing... DOLCE: Romantic Chamber Strings | Available April 21st

It's odd. Usually, when a new string library from a respected developer is being presented, there's always at least a few moments during the presentation or walkthrough that excites me enough to start imagining the possibilities of the library in my music, often followed by me moving the mouse point...
