Re: Modartt releases the Model B for Pianoteq
After playing with the demo for a bit, the tone isn't really up my alley for what I play, but I think it does a pretty good job at modelling a smaller piano. Notably, to my ear it does it a pretty passable job with the middle registers (from middle C4 to A5 or so), which is an area I've always found...

Re: Touche Music Controller
My first reaction was "ok that thing is weird." My second, considered reaction is "ok that thing is weird and I really like the idea." I don't know how well it's executed -- if the price is decent I may take a gamble -- but this kind of modwheel/pitchbend/otherCC replacement devi...

Re: Spitfire Audio Olafur Arnalds Composers Toolkit
I wonder how many velocity layers the felt piano has. I own the Simcock Felt from Spitfire, which is a piano with two velocity layers that feels like a piano with two velocity layers.

Re: Loopback / cable-free audio routing for Mac
Jason , I’m pretty confident there will be some difference for the simple reason that f(a+b) results in one room response (of two sources), whereas f(a)+f(b) gives two responses (of one source each) which, inevitably, are going to be stacked/summed in the mix. I’m no mathematician, but surely, that...

Re: CES & NAMM
5 major (and they mean major!) product announcements, huh? I wonder if they consider volume 2 releases across their brass and woodwinds ranges "major." If not, I think that will solidify my perception of their business strategy.

Re: Loopback / cable-free audio routing for Mac
All of which suggests to me that there should be a significant difference between, on the one hand, SPAT processing a group of (positioned) sources, and, on the other, SPAT processing individual sounds (even if these are, individually, positioned and rotated in exactly the same way as they are in t...

Re: Loopback / cable-free audio routing for Mac
Jason , I would think there'd be a substantial difference between a room responding to 8 different instruments simultaneously, or that same responding to all these instruments separately and then summing the results. No? And since SPAT is not simply something which you add to a source (like you wou...

Re: Loopback / cable-free audio routing for Mac
Not just that. But bringing up to eight sources into one single SPAT-space and having these sources, all of them together , influence the room response for the whole group. That's fundamentally different from giving each source its own SPAT treatment. A room responds differently to a bass than it d...

Re: Loopback / cable-free audio routing for Mac
I heavily rely on the loopback feature of my RME interface (via TotalMix). Very cool providing this in an interface agnostic way, and in a way that can span multiple interfaces. Too bad it's Mac only.

Re: Bye bye Kontakt, hello UVI Workstation/Falcon!
UVI Workstation needs a way to fully purge samples like Kontakt too. On the other hand, Kontakt has KSP. Inflicting this language on well-meaning developers is just a terrible, cruel thing. I haven't wanted to gouge my eyeballs so much since coding in PHP -- that I would take PHP over KSP is speaks ...

Re: Orchestral Tools: Metropolis Ark 1
How much productive time do you manage with your DAW? I know when I get home from work I'm mentally exhausted, so the evening DAW time I have is not terribly fruitful.Carles wrote:My daily fun begins every day after dinner only, just when I do start up my DAW).

9 horns and 12 double basses.
Well, they are certainly very clear about how they are marketing this product.

Heavyocity Damage, downloading now. Not sure how much use it'll get, but it's a staple library and at half off, the price is right.

Man, if I had a nickel for every time I said that I'd be able to pay for the Sable bundle (which I'm about to buy on November 26th).Aesthete wrote:The[n] I'm done, I promise!
