Yes, that discount seems to have been there for ages. I'm also not spending that kind of money for an update.Luciano Storti wrote: ↑Nov 21, 2018 7:43 pm Odd, I’ve been seeing this same discount every time I check since they’ve released Spat Revolution. But yeah, with this price I’ll wait until support for Spat 3 officially ends.

Re: Audiobro Modern Scoring Brass
So how do you view this offering Daryl, at least on paper? It doesn't look like Just Another Brass Library to me, and Audiobro do have a good reputation for detailed work. For me the thing that really doesn't work in other libraries, is solo instrument crossfading between dynamic layers. I've never...

Re: Audiobro Modern Scoring Brass
It must be tough to release orchestral libraries today because so much is already out there and by now most people have at least a couple of options. And so it puts more pressure on developers to offer something that is fresh and can motivate the buyer. You'd think so, but from what I can see there...

Re: Audiobro Modern Scoring Brass
Personally I think they should keep the price in the 3 digits range (so 999$ at most). I'm not sure you can still sell libraries for 1000-2000$ in todays day and age. Certainly if it is just more of the same, and not appreciably better, there will be a price limit. However, my main gripe with many ...

Re: Audiobro Modern Scoring Brass
DON'T RECORD ENSEMBLE LIBRARIES BY LAYERING UP INDIVIDUAL PLAYERS. It never sounds right, and will likely bankrupt you in the process. Guy, I think the big caveat is that Strings, as in section strings, are not solo instruments, whereas Brass and Woodwinds are. One of the important thing about stri...

Re: FLUX:: / SPAT Revolution (released)
Does anyone have an update on this. I was going to buy another couple of copies of SPAT v3, but I see it has been discontinued. So, if I want all studios to remain compatible, I need 4 copies of SPAT Revolution. Gulp. Any new information would be gratefully received.

I was gonna say, your example sounds excellent! How did you sample that? Trade secret. :P Release date/eta? Price? I'm afraid that this project all got shelved, due to lack of time. I don't see myself doing any more on it in the near future. Besides, it is not just about the samples. It's also abou...

Re: Spitfire introduces their Studio Series with Spitfire Studio Strings
Yes, most developers call detaché “bowed legato” but I have yet to hear one that sounds like actual detaché and is as agile as the real thing. I have most of the big string libraries, and it just doesn’t exist in any of them. Agreed, and although my example sounds pretty good to my ears, I can't re...

Re: Spitfire introduces their Studio Series with Spitfire Studio Strings
The one thing I don’t understand hasn’t been sampled at all is on-the-string detaché. It’s the mother of all bowings, and literally what we (string players) play the most. I guess it’s what some developers call “bowed legato” but it just never sounds right. I would pay a boatload of money for a lib...

But Daryl, not disrepecting you or denying your greater expertice, but with "Shorts" would you define not just Spiccatos and Staccatos , but also Marcatos, Martellatos, Col Legnos, Bart Pizzes the family of detache bowings short Ponts, richochets and so forth. These all have for me differ...

Yes, along with other bowings that bounce off the string.
Not necessarily. As I've already told you, spiccato is a staccato bowing.

Re: Spitfire introduces their Studio Series with Spitfire Studio Strings
Not sure what you are trying to say here Daryl. Staccato clearly was not invented by sample library developers. In fact, Mozart mentions the articulation in letters to his father, and in his notation he clearly distinguished between staccato and staccatissimo. And there must be sources mentioning i...

Re: Spitfire introduces their Studio Series with Spitfire Studio Strings
I find it odd that they have Spiccato for shorts, but don't have Staccato. Staccato is a basic, and very important articulation for strings. I wonder why they omitted Staccato ? To be accurate, there is no such articulation as staccato. That has just been invented by sample developers. All staccato...

Overdub means playing on top of something that they have already recorded. Tracking, if you like. There is obviously no problem with re-takes for mistakes.

The UK rate for library music is a flat rate of £150 per player, per session, with a couple of caveats: 1. The Leader will probably want 25-50% extra 2. A session is 3 hours 3. You can do up to 20 minutes of music in each session 4. The Cellist will charge you porterage 5. You can't do overdubs in t...

Re: Will this technology provide the ultimate headphones?
I was pretty shocked a couple of years ago when I realised how poor average hearing is even in 40s-50s. I did a bunch of tests of willing victims on a shoot I was on - the only people who could hear 18k were the work experience teenagers. I did a test with "the boys" last year, and whilst...

Interesting, it's about a LOT of $$$$$, it could give a new interpretation of the importance of a 'producer', try to imagine the money for sir George Martin... However, a producer normally gets points, so it all depends on what the contract says and whether or not it implies that the points are tra...
