Re: Sonnox / "Claro"

A great aid, I imagine, if you feel you can no longer trust your hearing completely, is ADPTR MetricAB, sold by Plugin Alliance. This plugin tells you everything about your mix that matters (in merciless detail, if you want) and allows you to compare it with up to 16 reference tracks of your choosin...

Re: Sonnox / "Claro"

I never bought it at the time, but I'm pretty sure that if I had, I would like it very much (as is the case with everything else from Sonnox that I have). Thing is, my folder with EQ plugins is bulging already more than is healthy for any plugin folder to bulge and it includes some outstanding EQ so...

Re: ARVerb - Am I the only one who thinks this reverb is fantastic?

The AR Reverb appears to be being well received and listening to the demo, particularly its latter half, it’s not too difficult to hear why. I have no plans to buy this myself any time soon, having a number of excellent reverbs and spatialization tools already, but I don’t doubt that anyone who does...

Re: The Moogerfoogers are back in town

Yes, a great-sounding and very useful set. (And not just for typical electronic music usage.)
No serious GUI issues here on my 24inch Philips monitors, although it would be nice to have the option to have these plugins displayed a little larger.

Re: Strymon BigSky Reverb Plugin

Maybe have a listen to Joey Sturgis' Sky Box which is obviously inspired by the Strymon BigSky. Or better still, try the demo (fully functional for 14 days). As it happens, the JST Sky Box currently sells for $19.00 (the normal price is $29.00).

Re: Acousticsamples V-Horns saxes spotted

Yes, terrific work, Rob.
Trumpets maybe a bit too shrill and bright here and there? A bit as if they passed through an aural exciter. Most noticeably, I find, during the forte near the end (around 0'34" and following) but there's a couple of moments earlier than that as well.

Re: Acousticsamples V-Horns saxes spotted

That would be a strange decision. It's not as if saxophones can't glide, is it?
(And I seem to recall hearing a glide in one of the official demos.)

Maybe I'll ask AcousticSamples.

Re: Acousticsamples V-Horns saxes spotted

Here’s a little something I did today, after reading this thread, with the VTrumpet 1. Recorded and finished in something of a hurry, and constantly with one eye on the kitchen where, at the same time, I was preparing a ragu sauce (which, conveniently, has to cook for three, four hours, but you have...

Re: Acousticsamples V-Horns saxes spotted

My earlier 'very impressive' doesn't cover the facts. It's unbelievably impressive. After loading, the instruments still seem to require quite some time to fully instantiate though. Got me worried there for a few half minutes (one half-a-minute for each saxophone), but they all emerge eventually. (S...

Very impressive. They also sit nicely together, as "Christmas Jazz Favorites #3" illustrates.

Re: Musical Sampling / Barker Clarinet

Yes, the vibrato, being part of the samples, could pose a bit of a problem in certain situations or styles. I’m sure Musical Sampling knows this, but it could be that they chose to go with a bit of vibrato anyway to guarantee some suggestion of life in the sustains — static, non-vibrato sustain samp...

Re: Please share your experience with Acousticsamples basses

(...) Are these using a similar kind of semi-modeled approach, I wonder? No, Temme. They are in fact all among the earliest libraries AcousticSamples produced (and they're entirely sample-based). In other words, all of these basses have already blown out many a birthday candle. (To give you an idea...

Re: Orchestral Tools / Loire (Creative Soundpack)

That ‘100% it’ in my previous post, I know now, is a bit too high a mark. While it’s a great sounding tuba, it is only capable of a polite mezzo-ish timbre which means that, without any outside help, you can’t do those snappy, brassy, pleasantly barking staccato parts with it that make tubas such we...

Orchestral Tools / Loire (Creative Soundpack)

The French connection. Or not. Orchestral Tools has released Loire a set of 6 six instruments (recorded from 3 perspectives) suited for, but not limited to, Parisian moods and other kinds of Gaulloiseries. Some rather lovely chalumeau winds (a first in sampled format, OT says), a characteristic muse...

Re: TC Electronic Sale: Master X HD-DT and Brickwall HD-DT

I’m not familiar with the TC Brickwall — if an audio or production problem needs addressing and DMG Audio has a plugin for it, that’s where I buy, without even considering what else might be available; I only mention this because when the time came to decide on a Limiter, I went with DMG’s Limitless...

https://www.genuinesoundware.com/Products/GenuineSoundsVol1/img/Main.PNG GSi, creators of what, for my taste, still is the best Hammond B3 software emulation -- although their VB3 now has to share the throne with UA's excellent Waterfall plugin -- have bundled their extensive collection of piano sa...
