The worlds first T'rung sample library (I think...)

Post by thesteelydane »

I recently sampled a very unique Vietnamese instrument called a Dan T'rung. It's a type of bamboo xylophone with a very bright and clear sound. To make this unique instrument I partnered with my good friend Thuy (one of Vietnams finest traditional musicians) and Cuong, owner of Zebra Studios (Bunker Samples second home) in Hanoi and we are very proud to bring you what I believe is the worlds first T'rung library. Chromatically sampled hits and rolls with three microphone perspectives, this is an instrument that instantly conjures up nature and ancient civilisations. It's a bright and clear sound that can easily replace more traditional xylophones in your template, or double up arpeggiated synth lines. You could even replace your orchestral xylophone with this. I mean, if you're crazy...

Intro price just $25 until February 28 (reg. $39).
Click here for more info, demos and walkthrough

Also available in the new Vietnam bundle together with the T'rungs sister instrument Sticks & Stones too for just $39!

Also, regarding the NI debacle and the future of Kontakt, this instrument will be ported to Koda Sampler when it's ready, and anyone who purchases the Kontakt version now (or in fact any Bunker Samples Kontakt library), will receive a free cross grade to the Koda version, if Kontakt does go under. So not only will you get a cool new instrument right away, you will also help a small Kontakt developer survive the storm.

Congratulations on the release! It's quite a lovely sound (way less offensive than our own western counterpart, lol). Clever bit of thinking about the octave sticks, too!

Just wanna say that this is a fantastic VI, Bunker did a great job and it's a fascinating, unique mallet sound. I can immediately tell it'll be useful in a wide variety of productions, not just "ethnic world music jungle exploration!!" cues. Really powerful and distinctive vibe, not quite like any other mallet instrument I've ever heard.

I've cut together a little video with Thuy talking in greater detail about the T'rưng and a little bit of behind the scenes from the actual recording session itself. Hope people like these kinds of videos...
