What gear (hardware or software) would you leap upon now if released?

Is there anything interesting on the horizon in our corner of the world? Nothing comes to mind that I am really waiting for. I have several choices for every instrument and every mixing/mastering plugin. Unless something groundbreaking comes along, I'd be just adding more choice to my template. Spitfire Abbey Road Orchestra Solo Woodwinds will be interesting for me. But it's not that I am waiting for it. Unlike for Patrick Rothfuss' 'The Doors of Stone', I don't check for news about AROSW on a regular basis. I will check it out when it's released, and that's that. I can't think of any library from the last few years that I found truly innovative. It's variations on existing things mostly.

I guess that AI is the newest technology supposed to bring us innovation in music technology. So far, I don't see it helping us to do things better. Instead, it takes the doing from us.

For hardware I came to the game too late I fear. When I started creating music, everything was already software based. So I use little hardware. I have an Avid Artist Mix that I never use. And I have a T.C. Electronic Powercore that I use to run the plugins on it. As you seem, my hardware

What I am really waiting for is a sit/stand desk with a piano tray, where the tray can be pushed all the way to the back of the desk. When the tray is mounted at the front, as is normal, there is not enough space for the leg when sitting. Much better if I could push the tray out of the way of my legs when I don't need the piano. Unfortunately, nobody is making such a desk at the moment.

What about you Guy? Is there anything in particular that you would like to see released?

Omnisphere 3.x is the big one. I've gone back to Omni 2 on my main rig because the 3.0 browser enrages me so much, I've never known an update so decimate my workflow (indeed the very reason I gravitated to the product in the first place). They're working on improvements I know.

I'd definitely be interested in a Stylus RMX replacement from them too, I still think the ultimate beats plugin (not real drums) has yet to be made.

I wonder what AI COULD do for us. I'd be interested in some kind of tech where it could take crude played-in midi with a single controller for dynamics and magically turn it into a believable and seamless performance.

Other than that, not a lot really. It's all been done 1000x over.
