GForce / Alex Ball soundpack for the M-Tron

"GForce Software has announced the release of their first Artist Expansion Pack for M-Tron Pro. For this first instance they invited British composer, producer and multi-instrumentalist, Alex Ball to craft a modern yet authentic pack.

You may know Alex from his YouTube channel, where he dives deep into all things synths and their history, what you may not know is that Alex composed, produced, sourced and licensed music for countless advertising campaigns and also worked on the trailers for 'Sackboy: A Big Adventure' and 'Watch Dogs: Legion', composed music for the Cbeebies BAFTA nominated series 'Tee & Mo' and had music used in an episode of Netflix 'Stranger Things' and BBC's 'The Apprentice'.

GForce Software gave Alex the challenge to create new yet authentic sounds for the M-Tron Pro. The project started with Alex selecting and recording a series of instruments, plus two rhythm and accompaniment banks, spanning the 35-note key range of the original M400 & MkII Mellotron. Once recorded, the results of those sessions were taken to Streetly Electronics and 'Tronized' via their Skeletron - a bare-bones Mellotron M400. Alex created 27 tape banks and the pack comes with over 150 presets."

GForce Software commented: "Without Alex's exemplary musicianship and devotion to detail, and without Tronizing, this pack could be viewed as a straightforward sample pack for M-Tron Pro. However, with the convergence of skills and technologies from both Alex and Streetly Electronics, we think this set of tape banks affords you something unique, special and highly inspirational."

OK, that is just about quirky enough (and inexpensive enough) to appeal to me.

oddly enough I did take advantage of a deal, some time ago, to upgrade to the pro version of MTron - and I've wondered why ever since<G>. I have a couple of the expansions but they always seem very limited in scope to me.

This one seems somehow different. I will probably fall prey to their evil marketing ways...
